I took my aunt for a day trip to Ptown. We decided to take a ride out to race point to see the "end of the cape". You can not even drive out there without paying a $15 use fee. I do not agree with this. If you want to park and use the beach, etc... charge to park or enter the beach ! It should be free to just drive to the end and take in the view for a few minutes!

We were at Race Point beach for the day and decided to go see this lighthouse on the way to Commercial Street. If you go down Provincetown Lands Road on your right just as the bike path goes under the road there is a small free dirt parking lot that can fit maybe 5-6 cars. There is a dirt path that is about 1km to Hatches Harbour. From there you can see the lighthouse (apparently), but on this path we were attacked by mosquitos and God knows what kind of bugs. After killing countless bugs on our legs we decided to run back to the safety of the car. If you make this trek put bug spray on otherwise you will be itching for days. Will try this again one day but perhaps walk it from the beach next time.

We are used to Canada which welcomes visitors to it's lighthouses. On Cape Cod some are not open to visitors, and this one was not even accessible by land, even though my husband had read about a guest house on-site. He was disappointed.

Stayed here two nights. Bring own food and water. A volunteer stays with you. Wonderful place if you like walking a beach with no one in sight. Lighthouse is fun too.

This was our 3rd tour of Race Point Light on Mariner's Day. The tour started with a 20 minute ride through sand dunes, courtesy of volunteers from the Lighthouse Foundation. The free tour included: guided tours of the lighthouse, keeper's home, and the recently renovated whistle house. Volunteer Guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Refreshments were provided. There are countless photo opportunities.

We brought two guests, new to this experience, and they enjoyed the day as much as we did.
