Really good hotdogs with a variety of toppings! i loved the chili dog with a little habanero mustard on the side. Also tried the blue cheese, bacon, and carmelized onions, which was awesome. Will definitely go back again and again!

One of the best lunch places in P-town. The owner was there to offer suggestions and "toppings" advice. Loved the sanitary way the have of dispensing the plastic utensils.... and that they recycle. Fun drink choices along with the basic soda selection. Good Food, Friendly Staff, clean and cute appearance. Winner all the way.

The Mac & Cheese with Bacon rocks!

One of the hidden gems of Provincetown, you'll have to really look for the Lucky Dog. It's tucked away just off of busy Commercial Street, just a quarter of a block east of Town Hall where you catch the sightseeing trolley. It's down a little foot path that leads south off of Commercial Street, between the buildings, toward the ATM, bus plaza, restrooms, parking lot and scenic Provincetown Harbor.
Look for Lucky Dog's sandwich board sort of sign on the little bit of sidewalk that exists on the south side of Commercial Street next to Cuffy's sweatshirt shop, at 291 Commercial, and follow the path to the end of the building on your left. Or if you come off the whale watch boat or the ferry from Boston or Plymouth, or park in the lots near MacMillan Pier or Fishermen's Wharf, or if you arrive in P Town by bus, you'll probably spot the Lucky Dog as you head north toward Commercial Street. I's near the public restrooms and the bus plaza.
This little spot is going into its third year as spring rolls into Provincetown to open the 2012 season. The owners are environmentally conscious, terrific guys, the place is immaculate and the food is top quality, fresh and imaginative. Lucky Dog is a welcome addition to the 70 plus choices for a meal in Provincetown.
The word "gourmet" just begins to describe the choices to dress your dog, with toppings like Chipotle Ketchup, an assortment of freshly made relishes, caramelized onions, homemade chili, even a kind of "candied" bacon, and many others from mild to spicy to downright adventurous. There are big dogs, little dogs, even a giant half-pounder, all served with exotic toppings or as simple as you please. There are lobster rolls, BBQ pulled pork, creative sandwiches, and much more. Terrific side dishes like their special coleslaw, mac and cheese, baked beans, potato salad and many more are all made right here, from scratch, with fresh ingredients.
You can totally pig out, like smothering your dog with homemade mac and cheese and maple bacon, or choose a much healthier meal like the fish sandwich, which is lightly breaded and baked, not fried, and delicious. Choose a specialty dog from the menu or create your own. Choose one of their various sausages, like linguica, (say "leen-gwee-suh") the local Portuguese favorite.
For dessert, of course you'll have to try their famous Devil Dog, made from scratch with a devil's food cake "bun" stuffed with a creamy filling, but you'll also want to try any of the cookies or other treats and desserts that roll out of their kitchen on any given day of the week.
This little restaurant gets high marks for their stewardship of the environment as well. It's as green as it can possibly be. Wherever possible, things used here are biodegradable or recyclable and made so as to have a lighter impact on the planet, like disposable forks made from a special starch-based plastic, and napkins made without any chlorine bleach. Produce, meat, paper supplies and everything else they use here all comes from suppliers no farther than 125 miles away, so less fuel is used getting things here to the tip of the cape. In my book, all of these things make this little joint an even better spot to spend my money.
Order at the counter and seat yourself indoors with the AC, or enjoy the breeze outdoors on the deck. Great place for families. They don't take credit cards but there's a choice of cash machines nearby.

Having had the dog topped with the caramelized onions, bacon, and blue cheese, and having loved every bite of the huge thing, I am going to attempt to make one myself, and put my own spin on it, but keeping to the basic ingredients - dog, onions, bacon, blue cheese. Just bought all the ingredients today, so guess what we're having for dinner tomorrow?

My wife and I are always looking for good places to get good dogs, and Lucky Dog met out needs better than any other place on the Cape. We come to the Cape every year, and finding places like this is what keeps us coming back. If they ever got a license to sell beer with the dogs, the line would go out to Race Point. Go there. I sure will be next year, and now that I know it exists, we'll be back more than once.
