My partner and I recently enjoyed a beautiful but all-too-brief 3 night stay at the Salt House Inn. Kevin was a warm and welcoming host, giving us great suggestions for things to do, places to eat, etc. His eye for relaxed but elegant design results in comfortable and cozy rooms (we had a superior double--Room 9) that make you feel at home. Breakfast was always interesting and delicious--with the same attention to detail that you see around the rest of the property. It is a short walk to Commercial Street, and just behind the highly recommended Far Land Provisions if you need sandwiches for the beach, a Chenin Blanc for sitting on the porch, or coffee anytime.

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor would probably be less noisy. Even the smaller rooms are comfortable.

My daughter and I were doing an East Coast road trip from South Beach to Boston. We had 3 B&B's/inns booked and the remainder of the time we winged it. The Salt House Inn was planned. We were on a budget so we chose the 'crews quarters room' . While it is smaller than traditional hotel rooms, it met our criteria: very clean, modern bathroom with good shower, good mattress and good linens, great breakfast and a charming patio to enjoy it on. While travelling and touring all you need is a good bed, linens and bathroom while you fill your day with activities. It's within walking distance to commercial district. Kevin was gracious and provided good info on bike rentals. Both online: would I return? Yes. Would I refer? Yes

Room Tip: Check website to see options Crews quarters room relatively tight but who needs floor space once in...

I am thrilled to hear that you and your daughter enjoyed your time with us during your recent East Coast road trip! I agree - our affordably priced smaller rooms are perfect for travelers who plan to "sleep and go" and who value a clean, comfortable bed/bathroom. We also offer a variety of larger rooms to accommodate travelers who like to have a bit more room to spread out and plan to spend more time relaxing in their guest room. We hope you will make another journey down from Canada to see us again soon, Vicki!

When I saw the cast iron daybed outside the door leading to our bedroom I knew I was in for something special. Where were the cliché hammocks ? Splinter-friendly wicker furniture ?

My boyfriend and I had done our research and, as foodies, the Salt House Inn was a no-brainer because of the much applauded home-cooked meals. However, we were skeptical if an Inn could deliver a delicious complimentary breakfast buffet AND chic, comfortable rooms. Well, the Salt House Inn super-surpassed our expectations.

It's the beach cabin of your dreams, and Kevin -- the co-ower and host -- was one of the best parts. He was incredibly attentive, informative, sensible, and funny. He did everything with a smile, but maintained a sincere demeanor throughout so you felt like he was someone you could trust.

The rooms are small without being suffocating. Very well furnished. We stayed in a Superior Queen room and we were very comfortable.

The breakfasts were great, and a nice money saver on some days. Both hot and iced coffee every morning, delicious homemade pastries, and more. And if you were not a fan of the menu, you're only 2 short blocks from commercial street where there are plenty of other options to suit your fancy.

Our main critique is the outdoor spaces could benefit from a citronella candle or similar mosquito repellant.

Overall, highly recommended.

Our entire staff is swooning reading your kind review! Thank you for sharing your recent experience at Salt House Inn and for your thoughtful feedback. We really do try to exceed expectations for both "B"s in B&B - by providing comfortable, clean accommodations and an incredible fresh, homemade breakfast. We wish we had known you were looking for our complimentary bug repellant spray - we keep it by the lobby door on the first floor outdoor terrace! We are looking forward to hosting you again in the near future.

While it is easy to get overwhelmed with the hundreds of options for accommodations in P-Town, Salt House Inn is clearly the exceptional choice for the discerning traveler. Gorgeous attention to detail in the decor set the stage for my July birthday stay. Kevin, our host, greeted us upon arrival and graciously stored our luggage so that we could head out for an hour to grab lunch off the main drag, Commercial Street, only two blocks away. When we returned, we were delighted to find a complimentary bottle of Rose, smoked almonds, and a handwritten note from the staff to kick off my birthday visit. How wonderfully thoughtful! Add the complimentary parking space (one per room) and breakfast, Salt House Inn truly understands that the key to great hospitality lies in the details. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: As the building is 160 years old, there may be some noise complaints from light sleepers. It is to b...

We were not dissappointed when we arrived at the Salt House. Kevin, the host, was very welcoming and our room was quite comfortable. Only 2 short blocks from the action on Commercial Street, it really was a great find! Upon check-in, my wife asked if there would be anything gluten free at breakfast. When we arrived for breakfast, Kevin came right up to her to let her know that he had prepared a gluten free version of the hot plate of the day for her. Nice touch!

I would definitely plan a return to the Salt house Inn!!

Thank you for your kind review, Andrew! We make serving guests with dietary restrictions a top priority here at Salt House Inn, as we want all of our guests to feel comfortable eating our fresh homemade breakfast. Our chef Mel and Kevin both always work to accommodate our guests who are gluten free, dairy free, vegan, etc. and with advance notice are often able to create an entire menu of delectable treats that are safe for our guests with allergies or restrictions to enjoy. We look forward to your next visit and to making more delicious GF dishes for your wife in the future.

I will never stay anywhere else in Provincetown. Salt House Inn is the perfect hotel. Kevin, the owner, is always around, very friendly, and so helpful in planning what to do and where to eat in town. The rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. It's an old hotel, and the walls are thin, so obviously you will hear your neighbors. But that was not a problem for us. The outdoor communal spaces were great, perfect for sharing a bottle of wine before dinner. The breakfasts are delicious, and among the best food available in Provincetown. The hotel is also in a great location, close to everything, but removed from the craziness of Commercial Street. It is also next door to Far Lands, a small grocery store where you can get wine, snacks, prepared food. We had the best stay, I can't wait to return!

We sincerely appreciate your loyalty to Salt House Inn, Tim! Our multiple outdoor terraces and spacious lobby with comfortable seating allow our guests to relax outside of their rooms - I am glad you were able to take advantage of them with a bottle of wine before dinner! We are honored that you thought our breakfast was some of the "best food available in Provincetown" - our chef, Mel, will be so thrilled to hear that you enjoyed his delectable freshly homemade hot and cold treats. We can't wait for you to return, either!

A perfect sanctuary amongst the madness and mayhem of Provincetown; really nice room; fine linens, a great bathroom and a spectacular home-cooked buffet breakfast. Incredibly friendly and efficient service.

One word of caution - if you are not a sound sleeper, (which gladly I am) you may find noise permeating from other rooms and from the street to be a problem.

Overall a really wonderful 5 day visit.

Wow, thank you for your thoughtful words, Dennis! We agree - Salt House Inn is just far enough away from the mayhem on Commercial Street to allow for a restful and peaceful stay, while being close enough that you can easily access the action. We wish you were still here for breakfast this morning... our homemade cinnamon rolls and slap garden vegetable quiche were huge hits! We are looking forward to your next visit to Provincetown.
