“In a Perfect Light”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

The most important detail to relate about the Cape Light room at the Red Inn is the magnificent light: from the view of the Highland Light in distant North Truro to the slant of light that comes through the window-filled room at break of day to the light glistening off the bountiful boats at harbor--all of which one can see from the lovely shared deck outside the room. The deck is a lovely place to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening cocktail. Both excellent coffee and cocktails are available from the breakfast room downstairs or from the perfectly situated bar at the hotel. Bartenders and wait persons are terrific (though, alas, I cannot say the same about the food), as is the entire staff at the hotel. The room is spacious and tastefully (conservatively) decorated, the bed very comfortable, and the shower and bathroom amenities top-notch. I look forward to staying here again--I truly love this room and that view.

We spent a long weekend in conjunction with mid June wedding.

Our friends suggested a room for us so we ended up with a large, balconied, room overlooking the harbor.

The room was furnished in
upper brackets B&B style. The bathroom and shower were fantastic but what close the deal was a very large balcony
overlooking the harbor in the incoming tides. Doublewide French doors brought that view into the room.

The entire staff was friendly,
helpful, and clearly enjoy their work. We had dinner which was a perfectly prepared piece of fish.

The Gardens at the entry were perfect and the bar was staffed with professionals.

We will be back.

The Red Inn is a perfect projection of all good things Provincetown

We and 4 other family members decided to try the Red Inn restaurant for dinner. So glad we did. The setting is on the water and oh so pleasant. Very nice decor. Our server was excellent. My husband and I began with 6 raw oysters each then the ceviche of the night which was excellent. We both choose the scallops with citrus beurre blanc and orzo--scallops perfectly cooked! Everyone was more that pleased with their meal. Their menu is varied with creative treatment of the various dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

This is probably the best place in town to stay - all the rooms are well appointed - great views of the bay and the bar/restaurant is awesome! The perfect way to spend a summer afternoon on their deck with drinks/apps! View can't be beat!

The reviews and word of mouth only lent to us booking our anniversary dinner at the red inn! And we were not disappointed!
Set inside the cozy inn, entering into the restaurant through the inn gardens, you feel welcome from the start! Exposed wooden beams, farm tables, and matching fireplaces on opposite ends of the dining room add to the warm, inviting dining experience. And of course, the open Provincetown Bay is the beautiful scene outside of the picture windows lining the south wall! Go early to sit on the porch with a pre-dinner cocktail in hand to enjoy the view!
All of the waiters are pleasant (and very easy on the eyes!). The menu has a great selection of seafood and American cuisine to choose from. We had the Cod and monkfish specials. The dishes tasted good, but could have used a little more flavor to them. But the meal was great overall. And the waiter had found out that it was our anniversary and brought us dessert on the house! THE best bread pudding I have ever tasted! Yum!!
Thank you red inn for providing a great anniversary meal!

Stopped by for happy hour and never left. The absolute best shrimp cocktail (for $1.25/ea!). Lobster bisque out of the world. But the orange margarita(s) is why I want to go back again today. Absolutely worth the walk down Commercial Street to get to this piece of heaven.

First impressions good. Nice man at reception helped us with our extremely heavy suitcases to our room. Room was beautifully furnished, had a small, private deck with two sun loungers, looked over the ocean, which was amazing, but view was obscured to one side by the outside wall of another room. The bed was incredibly comfortable, considering both myself and my partner suffer from bad backs and usually have trouble with hotel beds. The sheets and bed coverings were beautiful quality - silky soft. Bathroom and shower, excellent. The one down side to the room was the noise of some sort of generator coming from the kitchen below, if you are bothered by noise I would suggest you choose a room at the front of the hotel. Also you can hear the music that is played (gently) in the restaurant downstairs, this didn't bother us as it was good music and only lasted till about 10 p.m. As for the restaurant, we ate there one night, the food was tasty and of a good standard, but not as good as what we would expect for fine dining in England. Complimentary breakfast was average, sadly unfriendly staff though. 25 minute walk into Provinctown which is full of shops, restaurants and art galleries. Take a whale-watching trip - it was fun.

Room Tip: View of the ocean from private deck. Noisy generator runs 24 hours.
