Station was closed the day I went but it's a beautiful area and lovely building. Steps up from car park and onto dunes all around.

Very informative tour. Cool stuff to check out. Limited hours of operation but I'm not sure if it was just because of the time of year. Worth a visit.

This was an unexpected surprise! I have been here numerous times but had never been able to go inside. The station has been opening from 2 till 4 every afternoon and my timing was perfect! As I was waiting to go in I was entertained by two baby red fox.
The tour is self guiding but gives a detailed account of the surf men who occupied the station and the dangers they encountered. The volunteer, Richard, minding the station was more then happy to explain in detail and answer any questions. He himself being a grandson of a surf man. There were five stations, this one having been built in 1898 in Chatham. It was moved to Race Point Beach by barge in 1977. The Station has been meticulously restored according to original government specs. Some of the work being done by Richard himself. It was another piece of important Cape history that I was happy to hear about. If you are spending a day at Race Point, this is a perfect punctuation to the beach. This is great for all ages!
There is no fee to enter, but cars must pay to park in Race Point lot

What a great demo of how they use to save people in the early 1900's using old fashion zip lines.
This demo happen on Thursdays during the summer and you can even check out the station how it was many years ago.. We came upon this quite by accident at the Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown. Do check this next time that you are in Provincetown.
