What a find! Although this B & B is located near the wharf, just off Commercial Street, when you enter its gates the wonderful buzz of Provincetown is imperceptible. Yet you are minutes to most restaurants and sights. Michael, the open-hearted owner and host, is very accommodating and sets the high standards for this pristine B & B and its zen-like garden. You really can't ask for more.

This B & B is right in the centre of Provincetown a few yards from the MacMillan pier. Although the address is Commercial street it is in fact up about 30 yards up a small alleyway which means that it is very quiet. There is a small carpark for guests accessible from a side gate. The house and garden are immaculate. Michael, the host, has clear ideas of design and his attention to detail ensures that every corner of this property inside and out oozes good taste. Breakfast is limited to very good coffee, croissants (or muffins), and instant oatmeal (surprisingly good), and the bedrooms are not as large as some we encountered on our tour of New England, but that is reflected in the moderate rates. In addition to the room, known as the captains quarters, we had use of a nice front porch with a view of the sea. Michael is able to offer some discount on the essential trips in Provincetown, eg, whale watching and cycle tours, and is happy to give advice on restaurants and other matters. Michael's sense of humour keeps the house going in a relaxed atmosphere and ultimately creates an ambience of relaxation and peace. Millie, who cleans the rooms, is a delight. Highly recommended.

Upon walking through the gates, just a short walk from the bustle of Commercial Street, you're suddenly removed from the energy and crowds the summer always brings to Provincetown and find yourself in the peaceful surroundings of A Secret Garden Inn. Having never been to this beautifully-decorated guesthouse before, the words I used to title my review were the first thoughts that came to mind upon first laying-eyes on this attractive and secluded stay. If you're a guest who enjoys all the wonderful, social aspects Ptown has to offer but eventually know that you're going to need a time-out to recuperate (like myself) than look no further because it feels like you're staying with friends as opposed to your typical Cape motel. The only detail greater than the location and accomodations of this gorgeous guesthouse were that of our outstanding host and owner of A Secret Garden Inn, Michael Britt. His energy and genuiness truly rival the best-of-the-best. When you meet Michael, you sense right away how much fun he is but what accompanies that is a sincere, down-to-earth human being that goes above and beyond to make sure you're a comfortable guest. Michael (and Millie - always say hello and thank her, as she is truly the definition of the word, 'sweet') are the number one reason you'll want to return, as you'll realize quickly that they treat you with the kind of warmth you'd receive from old friends. All of this being said, it goes without question that I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here and I would absolutely stay here again.

Room Tip: They're all superb; you can't lose.

This gem of an Inn is hidden in the heart of PTown. The accommodations are superb above any other Inn/Hotel that I have ever stayed when traveling. The staff cannot do enough for all guests. They ensure the utmost of details are paid attention to in order to provide you with comfort, privacy, and a tranquil experience above and beyond any other. This Inn has off street parking which is unheard of in PTown. This was my first trip to PTown and the diversified guests from around the world that stay at this Inn added to my experience. Because of the hospitality, convenience and the Zen experience A Secret Garden Inn offers I am already planning my next stay within the next 2 months. Thank you so much to the staff of the Inn for making my first trip to PTown a pleasant and memorable experience. Henry C. Bouchard

My husband and I spent two nights at A Secret Garden and loved our stay. This beautiful little guest house is centrally located and is totally charming. Our host Michael was warm and welcoming. The place was extremely clean and provided a quiet place of rest and relaxation. We will certainly return!

We have stayed at many places in PTown and I can say without hesitation that Michael is the most hospitable and fun host EVER! In terms of the Inn itself, the location cannot be beat - central to everything - and the place is immaculately clean with wonderful, tasteful, comfortable surroundings (and parking is available - huge bonus). Secret Garden Inn and Michael are both charming and amazing - highly recommend.

Arriving in P-town on bicycles we had been traveling on for three days and discovering the 4:30 ferry to Plymouth would not be running for two more weeks; we were in desperate need of lodging accommodations. We were referred to Michael and the Secret Garden Inn by Herbie at the Chamber of Commerce. We were in awe at the rates and how charming the whole establishment was. Michael is certainly the 'Host with the Most'. He offered storage for our bikes and let us choose from a couple of rooms. We opted for the Crow’s Nest which has a semi-private balcony. Everything was perfect for a beach town B&B. Our poor planning turned out to be the best part of our cycling adventure. Thank you Michael for making it so special!
