“Acceptable Lodging, with Some Charms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2012

Room was a mix of modern and dated. Beds were clean and very comfortable. Carpet was stained, but not dirty. Bathroom was clean, but in need of some updates & renovation. Quiet rooms (thanks to the concrete block walls). Nice harbor views from the lounge/restaurant area. Free continental breakfast. Outside (gas) fire pit. Evening music on the weekend. Friendly lobby area with comfortable seats, books, and games. Free cruiser bikes. Quick response to fix a problem we had in our bathroom. Friendly staff. A little too far to walk to town, but a quick drive.

We are delighted your stay at the Harbor Hotel Provincetown was enjoyable and we appreciate you sharing your comments. It sounds like you had the opportunity to take advantage of many of the wonderful amenities we offer, including live music, a hearty breakfast and our welcoming lobby, all prepared with our guests in mind. I frequently travel to Provincetown with my wife and at first, afetr the renovation, we were plesently surprised given how run down this hotel used to be. However, this has not been long lived. The floors without carpets are so filthy we would put the blanket down on the floor to keep our feet clean after a shower. The hotel now required the contenential breakfast to be served to you and they do not have enough staff and all i wanted was a bagel and coffee but i didnt want to wait an hour. This hotel is in an ideal location and does have a lot to offer but the new owners need to focus on what really matters to travelrs....like clean rooms.

Hearing from our guests is the best possible way that we can improve future stays for everyone and we appreciate your honesty. Thank you for mentioning that you enjoyed our many amenities, particularly our convenient location however, we are disappointed to learn that your accommodations did not meet your expectations. We have put a lot of work into giving the Harbor Hotel Provincetown a fresh new appeal and the condition of the floor in your room is certainly unacceptable. Our Housekeeping team has been alerted to the situation and will ensure in the future to pay extra attention to the floors. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again.

This is an older Holiday Inn (we stayed there 20yrs ago) It is just OK, nothing special, stained carpets, but otherwise mostly clean. We stayed in a dog room, EXPENSIVE at $25.00/ night, that was on the back of the complex near an unmown field/woodsy area- ok if your dogs aren't afraid of high grass- nicer if it was mowed.
This motel has a very aggressive deposit/ cancellation fee so be sure that this is where you want to be if you make an early reservation.

Thank you for reaching out to us in regard to your recent stay at our hotel. It is disappointing to hear that your experience was not as you had expected and your comments will be used to help us focus on areas that need improvement. The carpets in our guestrooms endured quite a bit of wear and tear throughout the summer and we are currently in the process of replacing them. You are correct, even our four-legged guests deserve a comfortable stay and we will have our Maintenance Engineers better maintain the outdoor area for them. We hope to be to welcome you back and regain your trust in us in the future.

After spending two weeks in Maine decided to spend a couple of nights in Cape Cod area. Decided Provincetown looked like a neat place and picked the Harbor Hotel. We arrived around 5:30 or 6:00 and checked in easily. Room was great. Very clean and modern. Noticed a fire pit seating area out front facing the ocean so went out there to enjoy the view. As luck would have it there was not one but two rainbows that evening. It was incredible. We ordered drinks and appetizers that were brought outside to us. Very good. Very friendly server that also answered our questions about the area.
In the morning they offer a complimentary breakfast with pastries, bagels, toast, fresh fruit, yogurts and cereal. Nice not to have to go find a place for breakfast.
Would of tried their restaurant but it was closed sunday and monday because it was after labor day.
The front desk people were helpful and I would recommend this hotel to everyone. They also have a huge pool outside which we didn't get to use because of the weather.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool were nice and convenient.

I recently attended a wedding at the Harbor Hotel.

This is distinctly an older hotel that has been pseudo updated to reflect the quirkiness of P-Town. The hotel lobby is very bright and decorated in seaside hipster fashion. Check in was quick, the service was prompt and informative.

The reality is that this is an older hotel that was probably built in the 50 or 60s for the family tourist crowd. It is a two story motel across from the water (not a beach) that looks and feels old. Our room was older, but relatively clean with a sliding door and balcony overlooking the pool You could tell that the rooms had been painted recently, but upon closer inspection the carpets were stained and some of the furnishings broken. That said, the beds were ridiculously comfortable. I was quite impressed.

The wedding took place out in front of the hotel on a nice wooden deck, behind the well designed fire pit. The reception took place inside in the lounge. The front part of the lounge was bright and open, but the back near the bar area was dark and a little sketchy complete with pool table. The food serviced was decent, but the drinks were overpriced and poorly made. I stuck to scotch on the rocks.

The highlight of the stay was sitting around the large firepit with friends and other wedding guests once the sun went down. Service was prompt and friendly.

While overpriced for what the hotel is, even in the off season, it did provide the basics well and within walking distance of downtown P-Town.

We love hearing from our guests and very much appreciate your gracious remarks regarding our service levels, convenient location and comfortable accommodations. Our fire-pit is a very popular amenity enjoyed by guests and locals alike and offers a wonderful atmosphere of relaxation. Spending time in the company of family and friends is priceless and we're thrilled that you had that opportunity. We will certainly look into the condition of your accommodations and appreciate you pointing out your concerns, particularly the carpets, which we are in the process of replacing after a busy summer of wear. Thank you for sharing your experience with us; we're happy to see you enjoyed the wedding and look forward to greeting you again at the Harbor Hotel Provincetown.

Though I am a "family" traveler, the weekend trip to the Harbor Hotel in Provincetown was a couples/friends get together. One of the reasons we chose the Harbor is that two of us planned to bring our dogs.
We arrived late on Friday after a long drive. When we went to check in, I was admonished to remove my dogs from the lobby. How can I check in if I must leave with the dogs. I didn't understand, I thought pets were welcome. I was told there was a fear for guest with allergies (there was no one in the lobby at 12:30 am when we arrived). WHy would someone with pet allergies stay at a pet friendly hotel and if they did, wouldn't they expect to run into pets?
Most frustrating is that we coudl have been checked in in half the time it took him to aruge with me. I presented my credit card immediately (one night deposit taken as per the hotel policy), and signed. Very quick.
Even though it was after Labor Day our rate was $269/night for what was supposed to be a nicer room. The room was very clean, and my first though was "just needs a facelift" I found out later it had just gotten a facelift since it was a former Holiday Inn. The sink and shower head looked new. The TV did not work (no volume). We were too tired to call that night, but had it fixed promptly the next morning.
There were coffee packets, but no coffee maker in the room. Coffee was regularly available in the lobby at all hours though. If you didnt' have someone else to take your dog, you would have to tie the dog up to get the coffee though (my dogs are active and big, so I don't tie them up on their own).
The beds were comfortable and better than other 3 stars, though a far cry from a marriott cozy sleeper, for instance. The a/c worked fine and was not painfully noisy as some can be, was a 'white noise'.
We were further dissapointed by the fact that we could not take the dogs with us near the fire pit lounges. We were told it is a food service area, but it did not seem any different than other benches outside - no one came to serve food there. (That is the reason they claim the dogs were prohibitied). We found out in town, that the law does allows dogs in food service areas, if you have a permit. Harbor Hotel obviously does not (hence dog tolerant, not dog friendly)

Our room was never made up the following day. We left about 10:30 am and returned 4:30 pm. We never used the do not distrub sign, so do not know why this happened. We were told it woudl be looked into, but not sure how that will help us now. I happened to hear someone else complain when I checked out that their room did not get their towels picked up or the coffee refreshed (I guess theirs had a maker).
The breakfast was free and not much to choose from. Fruit, yogurt, bages.toast, english muffins, pastry. This may be typical for the area as opposed to what you get at a Courtyard or Hilton Garden Inn.
The hotel was near a beach, which was not terribly nice, was empty, and not really sure what it woudl be like in season. WE preferred to stay a bit away from the bustle of COmmerical Street though it was obviously truly dog FRIENDLY at the hotels and restaurants, were we found many places to enjoy a nice meal outdoors with our dogs (even gave us a dog bowl of water and treats).
The pools was a decent size and the patio was cozy, though the pool bar we were lookng forward to closed very early on a Saturday (by 5:00). We were able to get drinks from the bar inside. My husband stayed in the room with the dogs because - no dogs allowed by the pool area. The wine came in a twist off bottle and tasted like it. On a bright note the bartender (Elizabeth?) was great and the mixed drinks we switched to were very good.
Not sure if I would stay there again as they seemed to reluntantly welcome your pet (other dog friendly places range from water bowls, treats and clean up bags at the Days Inn to offer of doggie beds at some Kimptons)

Room Tip: Pet floors are first floor, but I was told second floor is nicer. Faced the bay was nice, but not s...

The level of unhappiness you convey is of deep concern to us, and I am sorry we did not seem to have any knowledge of this during your stay. I spend more than half of my time interacting with our guests, and almost more than anything else I enjoy making an unhappy guest happy. Your insight is important to me and my team as it allows us to work towards improving the experience based on the most important perspective – our guests. If there is anything that we could have done to make you’re your stay more positive, I hope you’ll take a moment and let us know. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
