Enjoyed a mid-week overnight stay. The staff and grounds were amazing. Our room was small but clean. Updating the furnishings would be a positve move but the charm and tranquilly offset the negatives. The brunch was wonderful, and the view cannot be beat.

It was my anniversary and my wife and I chose to stay at this lovely Inn. There are a lot of great things about this little oasis in Rockport, Ma. Once you set foot on the property it seems as though all the commotion and bustle of work, life and the travel ( for us it was a 2.25 hr ride that ended up being over 3.5 hrs due to the Boston traffic) seem to fade away. The location of the hotel is perfect right on the ocean with a breath taking view. The hotel itself has some great charm being historic and very well kept. The rooms and all public areas are clean and well maintained. You can enjoy your beverages in any area you choose even on the front or back porch in a rocking chair taking in the view. The quality of the food was great from the morning buffet( included in your room fee) to the dinner. There were many great choices for the buffet not just your regular, from Bananas foster french toast too frittata's. There is also a great assortment of pastries and Scones. The local town provides a nice getaway if you choose to leave the property. Just make sure you check the ratings on some of the local restaurants as some are not as good as you would think Would definitely recommend this to all.

Room Tip: Try to get the rooms with the ocean view.

We had a wonderful 2 nights here in this updated but classic vintage hotel. We had dinner there the first night and it was superb. I thought my meal was great (a chicken dish) but my husband's surf and turf was to die for. Breakfast was also very good the first morning but it was a bit plain the second but still good. The grounds were very relaxing. Well groomed gardens and these wonderful chairs to sit among the vegetation. We would open a bottle of wine with some cheese and crackers and just look at the amazing view and then do the same in the morning with our coffee. Our room was adorable - a king size four poster bed complete with a million pillows, ruffles and a 2 step step-stool to get in the bed. The bathroom had the feel of old fashion but still had a whirlpool tub which we took advantage of both nights. The pool looked very nice and clean but the air was still a bit cool to go in. This whole area beats the Cape hands down. We'll be back again!

Room Tip: Make sure you have an ocean view. And keep in mind this hotel does not have an elevator or bellmen. So the 4th floor is a long way up with your suitcases or if you forgot you car keys - back up stairs.

Beautiful rooms, incredible view, nestled in a residential neighborhood. Breakfast was 5 star every morning. Some confusion about room assignments upon check-in, but the staff readily and professionally remedied the situation. Keep up the great work!

My husband & I spend one night at the Emerson Inn by the Sea n July, 2014. We loved it. An old (but updated) inn where Ralph Waldo Emerson used to stay .. with a long porch filled with chairs facing a lawn and the Atlantic. An outdoor pool, which we didn't get a chance to try. And the food -- the dinner was one of the best we've had in months (and we're foodies.) And the complementary breakfast? French toast with freshly made raspberry sauce ... ham and cheese quiche with Hollandaise sauce .. and that was just the beginning. Small enough to the staff immediately remembered us .. tea and coffee available 24/7 in the living room ... we were entranced. And we'll be back.,

Room Tip: Request a room with an ocean view if you can ... the inn is about 5-6 driving minutes from the cultural district of Rockport (art galleries, boutiques, other great restaurants) and the harbor.
