“Nice Location, Nice Inn Keeper”
Reviewed 6 July 2007

Location was only a couple blocks from downtown Rockport. Inn Keeper, Gary, very nice and gave us tips on attractions in the area. Hotel was clean. Room size was fine. Bathroom was tight in space, but did our deed and didn't hang out in there. Not a 4 star hotel, as furnishings were out of date, but for great rates and location, this was a fine stay. I would stay again.

We stayed here for one night in August 2006. Gary was all you could wish for from a proprietor, giving us all the lowdown on Rockport, the restaurants and the best walks given that we had little more than a day to spend there. He appears to be really enthusiastic about his work and was also happy to give us lots of ideas about our onward destinations including weather forecasts.
The location could hardly be better and the price was more than reasonable. The rooms are clean and quaint and although the bathroom was very small we did not intend to spend much time in there and felt that this should not be a major issue. You can't go wrong with The Eagle House.

We travel the U.S. very often and have been to all categories of Hotels you could imagine. The EHM is a very special place to stay. Gary and his wife do a fantastic job to run the place. Very helpful, highly friendly hosts. We would recommend this clean and inexpensive Motel to all our friends in case they are in the area.

Decided to stay at the Eagle the night after arriving in Boston area from UK.. Easy to find and owner very friendly with good recommendations for restaurants. Short walk to nice beach and good food.

However, room a little musty and property located close to church with hourly bells - not ideal for the jet lagged !

Would consider staying again but not as a first night.

I read the negative review from the Ohio visitors and I disagree with their review. Yes the bathroom was smal, but that is part of the Eagle House charm. It is like an Old New England Inn. If you want glitz with huge bathrooms and 500 cable channels please stay someplace else.

THe Innkeeper made the biggest difference. He made it a point to know each of his guests by name and he addressed them by their name. When was the last time you stayed in a motel where they knew your name? Gary was also an excellent tour guide, giving all types of advice on what to do and see.

I am always amazed when reading reviews on how widely they swing from good to bad. i stayed at Eagle House with my family last summer. It is a small, charming motor inn with an excellent location, it is close to Bearskin Neck and the habor beach. Gary is a great host and his office is filled with information. He helped us find the tennis courts and the train station. This is a great value and a perfect location. It's not the Ritz, but if you want 5 star lodgings you better be will to shell out the big bucks

Our first time in Rockport and we stayed at the Eagle House.....the bathrooms are a joke and we only got one towel and wash cloth and were told to save on the water. couldn't use the air conditioning and the blow dryer at the same time...we blew a fuse. Gary needs to remodel and at least have enough room to use the toilet. also the bath rooms had a very bad oder.. never again
