“Impressively well kept little delight”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

We rented kayaks in town and paddled out on a perfect summer day-calm water and sunshine. Had some confusion on where to come ashore but decided on the ramp which is correct though you then have to carry your kayak up the somewhat slippery ramp to a grassy area. We paid the fee which I think was $5/person and signed in and started wandering. There are volunteers who live on the island and do a fantastic job of upkeep, the pathways and grassy areas are well maintained. We spent about an hour walking, climbing the lighthouse for a great vista, etc.

“It's an Island”
Reviewed 10 January 2013

Take a kayak out to the island, spend a few hours. Meet the keepers.
You can camp out or rent a room in advance...
A great excursion...

“Great views from there, but . . .”
Reviewed 21 September 2012

You can take a boat ride out to Thacher Island, which has two lighthouses on it. It's very picturesque but DO NOT go out there without heavy-dity bug spray. The mosquitos are plentiful and hungry. Still, it's worth a ride out just for the views.
