The perfect location for relaxation literally on the ocean. The breakfasts include a wide variety of healthy, fresh and home made choices of baked goods, fruit, cereals and yogurt as well as beverages. The accommodations are clean and comfortable in a neighborhood with a residential feel but easily accessible to southern Maine or northern Mass. day trips. On our most recent visit during the last week of May 2012 we stayed in Room 1 with the enclosed porch and felt more like the owners of the grand home than the visitors. Highly recommendable B&B experience.

We spent the last 2wks on Cape Ann and without doubt out our choice of B&B was the one of the best places we have ever chosen for holiday accommodation. The Captains House, Rockport MA - is just 45mins from Boston's Logan Airport and on the stunning Cape Ann peninsula - What a fantastic location ! The house sits right on the shoreline with uninterupted views of the ocean and Straitsmouth and Thacher Islands. Fabulous bedrooms upstairs and very comfortable guest space downstairs that overlooks the lawns and coastline. Nip through the glazed door and you'll be on the covered porch - offering protection from the sun without diminishing the great sea views. The continental breakfasts are an absolute treat - particularly the home-made pastries, muffins and museli. Gretchen, (our host) is absolutely charming and a mine of information on the area. Go for the location, the views, the breakfasts, and hospitality and the beauty that is Cape Ann. If none of these things are on your holiday agenda then book anyway ! Cally, the resident Labradoodle is cute with a capital 'C' . . . you'll want to go back - thats for sure! We're already thinking up excuses to return . . . Nats & Andy, Tetbury, Glos. UK

Room Tip: We thought all the rooms were lovely, but check out their website, or email/call the owner for a reccommendation and availability.

Stayed 3 nights on our honeymoon in may. We were really happy we stayed here. Awesome view, the bed was really comfy (room 2) and the breakfast was self serve but very good. Gretchen was really nice and gave us great recommendations for dinner and shopping. Highly recommend staying here!!!

Had a lovely time right on the ocean. Stayed in room 1 and took great advantage of the sun room for early morning sunrise watching. I could spend hours on the rocks looking at the ocean, but also enjoyed Rockport and Halibut State Park. One for the memory book.

Room Tip: Loved room 1 for the extra sunroom seating, but there are a couple that overlook the water.

This place has a great location right on the water. The view from our room was stunning. We had a room that had its own bathroom, but I'm not sure that all rooms have their own bathrooms. The property has a large, expansive lawn that extends up to a seawall and guests can lounge on chairs or on the grass. One thing that bothered me was that on the second day we were there, the landscaper came and applied some sort off chemical to the grass. (Fertilizer, I imagine?) In any event, we were no longer able to enjoy the grass as there were warning signs posted saying that chemicals had been applied to the grass and that it was not safe to walk on it. I don't know if this happens often or just once in a great while, but my son really wanted to play on the grass and he was unable to do so after this treatment.
