“Relaxing in Rockport”
Reviewed 27 July 2012

Traveling for a few days with my wife, and wanted to stay on Cape Ann to see that area. We have spent many vacations in Martha's Vineyard, and wanted a change. The location was spectacular, the Inn very comfortable, and the sounds and scent of the ocean added to the joy experienced there. Breakfast was also good. I would recomend this to all! We were there during a very hot few days, and the rooms were without airconditioning. It was warm, but the constant breeze kept it comfortable, no higher than 82 degrees (note- it was 95 plus in New Jersey that day)

nice staff clean with a great view. Their is a romantic walking trail that follows a cliffy path for jogging that runs along the shoreline. Rooms are small but very nice and cute with a romantic touch. Breakfast is nice! I would stay at this one before I choose the others located their.

We just finished a full week at Captain's House, our fourth stay. The provided breakfasts have gotten even better, if that is possible! We were blessed with perfect weather, and enjoyed spending a couple afternoons reading on the porch with a cool, ocean breeze. We also loved watching the waves break against the rocks in the evening. Captain's House is a wonderful base from whence to enjoy all the area's activities. Although the bed was quite comfortable, I took to sleeping on Room #1's attached sunporch at night, the better to hear all the sounds of the ocean! A most relaxing, enjoyable stay!

Room Tip: Room #1 has the most excellent view, and plenty of room...the extra porch makes for extra-nice sleep...

This is a wonderful, relaxing spot. We stayed in room 2 and loved the view and the sounds of the ocean. Breakfast and amenities were excellent. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 have the best views.

The perfect location for relaxation literally on the ocean. The breakfasts include a wide variety of healthy, fresh and home made choices of baked goods, fruit, cereals and yogurt as well as beverages. The accommodations are clean and comfortable in a neighborhood with a residential feel but easily accessible to southern Maine or northern Mass. day trips. On our most recent visit during the last week of May 2012 we stayed in Room 1 with the enclosed porch and felt more like the owners of the grand home than the visitors. Highly recommendable B&B experience.

We spent the last 2wks on Cape Ann and without doubt out our choice of B&B was the one of the best places we have ever chosen for holiday accommodation. The Captains House, Rockport MA - is just 45mins from Boston's Logan Airport and on the stunning Cape Ann peninsula - What a fantastic location ! The house sits right on the shoreline with uninterupted views of the ocean and Straitsmouth and Thacher Islands. Fabulous bedrooms upstairs and very comfortable guest space downstairs that overlooks the lawns and coastline. Nip through the glazed door and you'll be on the covered porch - offering protection from the sun without diminishing the great sea views. The continental breakfasts are an absolute treat - particularly the home-made pastries, muffins and museli. Gretchen, (our host) is absolutely charming and a mine of information on the area. Go for the location, the views, the breakfasts, and hospitality and the beauty that is Cape Ann. If none of these things are on your holiday agenda then book anyway ! Cally, the resident Labradoodle is cute with a capital 'C' . . . you'll want to go back - thats for sure! We're already thinking up excuses to return . . . Nats & Andy, Tetbury, Glos. UK

Room Tip: We thought all the rooms were lovely, but check out their website, or email/call the owner for a rec...
