The 1750 Inn at Sandwich Center
Ranked #2 of 7 Sandwich B&B and Inns
Reviewed 3 October 2012

My girlfriend & I stayed at the 1750 Inn at Sandwich Center for 3 nights in mid-September. It was our first trip together to the Cape and, thanks to Jan & Charlie, our visit was terrific. Jan & Charlie treated us as one of their own. The breakfasts were fantastic and the hospitality couldn't have been any better. We're hoping to go back to the Cape next summer, and if we do, we won't hesitate to stay at the 1750 Inn at Sandwich Center!

Jan & Charlie are probably the best at this kind of business. That old house was very nicely rehabilitated and held the character you would expect with the name but with all the amenities you should need on a get-away vacation. Our stay was for a long weekend to celebrate our 6th anniversary and my wife's birthday. Complimentary gifts greeted us in our room even though we arrived early and unexpected. Our bedroom, bathroom, and the rest of the house was clean and the bed & furniture were comfortable. The house was painted in pleasent, welcoming colors and decorated beautifully, no doubt due to Jan's artist background. Knowledgable, well-traveled and informed, Jan & Charlie both did their part to help us with advice on restaurants and planning daytrips and never tired of helping us. I don't know when they rested since they were almost always available when we needed them. Breakfasts were just fantastic gourmet delights (again Jan's artwork) and breakfast-in-a-bag was ready for us the morning we left early for the Nantucket ferry. Charlie even humored me in seeing the dark corners of the building to satisfy my interest in historic structures and Jan just waved off the issue with my spilling wine and breaking the glass in our room. I have stayed in many B&B's (30+-) but 1750 Inn at Sandwich is among the top 5 in my book. Thanks Jan & Charlie!!! Hope you liked the pictures.

Room Tip: Our room was the Hallstead, comfortable and we had good views, good lighting and plenty of space...

We stayed for 3 nights and if we're ever in the Cape Cod area again, we'll be back! Adorable house, very clean room, breakfasts were superb! Loved Jan and Charlie - both very nice and very helpful with assisting us in getting to know the area. Loved it there!

we stayed at the 1750 Sandwich Inn for 3 nights during our trip of the East Coast. It is a beautiful old building and the owners are really nice and taking care very well of their guests. The breakfasts were delicious and we can only recommend to stay at that place as a gateway to Cape Cod

Jan & Charlie were perfect hosts. Our main floor room was lovely & terrific for an older couple like us. . . no stairs to climb! Jan's breakfast was sooo yummy & it was fun talking w/ some of the other guests that were sitting at the table w/ us. We will return next year for sure!

We had the privilege of staying this summer in the beautifully preserved and decorated "1750 Inn at Sandwich Center." We are from the West Coast, and were excited to be visiting the Cape for the first time. We couldn't have chosen a better spot than this very special B&B. We were welcomed with freshly baked cookies, and treated to wine and sherry in the evenings. Jan always whipped up delicious gourmet breakfasts which were served either in the dining room on the huge, antique table, or out on the back patio, depending on the weather. We felt pampered the whole time we were there! Charlie was great at recommending places to go and restaurants to eat at, and gave great directions to get there.

We were so glad we had chosen Sandwich as our home base. As the oldest city on the Cape, it was loaded with history. It is a beautiful town and we liked that it was quiet and uncrowded, and, at the same time, the perfect base to explore the island from. We traveled to Chatham, explored the charming towns along the beautiful 6A, and even made it to "P-Town." But, we were always happy to come back to Sandwich at the end of the day.

Check out the package deals that Charlie and Jan offer. We were so pleased we chose the "Sandwich by the Sea Summer Fun Package" because it included so many things for a great price! We enjoyed the museums very much, and the restaurant dinner was perfect.

You will not be disappointed if you stay here. This classic old house is in perfect shape, and Jan and Charlie go out of their way to make you welcome. If we get the opportunity to stay at the Cape again, I would love to go back to the 1750 Inn at Sandwich Center.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful and have private bathrooms.

We enjoyed our one night stay at the 1750 Inn, the innkeeper's Jan and Charlie were welcoming and informative about Sandwich. The Inn is clean and well kept, painted in lovely pastel colors with tasteful contemporary art and crafts. There was chocolate chip cookies waiting on a plate in the dining room when we arrived and coffee and tea. They served a glass of wine before dinner and after dinner port when we got back from dinner. The Inn is situated in the heart of Sandwich. Lots of history and enough to keep you busy for at least 2-3 days.
