The 1750 Inn at Sandwich Center
Ranked #2 of 7 Sandwich B&B and Inns
Reviewed 9 October 2013

This inn is clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and cared for. Charlie and Jan, the innkeepers, are friendly and welcoming without hovering over you. The breakfasts were both healthy and delicious, beautifully done by Jan. We enjoyed meeting the other guests at breakfast and in the evening, when cookies and wine/tea/coffee were available. We will definitely stay again and recommend the 1750 Inn to everyone.

Jan and Charlie are warm and gracious hosts and treat us like long lost family although it had been a while since our last stay. Breakfast is a treat, and meeting a lot of interesting people is always a welcome experience. We will return.

Jan and Charlie are so warm, welcoming, and hospitable. After our long red-eye flight into Boston, and drive down to cape cod we were delighted to turn into the driveway of this cute cottage. We were greeted by Jan and Charlies' warm smiles and directed to our adorable, cozy, clean room. We stayed in the Robert Morse Room on the second floor. It was everything we were hoping it would be (the pictures present a very accurate representation). The staircase was quite steep and narrow, but there were side rails on both sides that helped us feel comfortable walking up and down the stairs. We loved the privacy of being upstairs, curling up by the cozy fireplace at night, and enjoying a late night glass of wine or sherry up on the deck (the deck upstairs is shared with the Halstead room, but we were the only ones staying upstairs so it felt very private). Jan's breakfasts are delicious and she was very attentive and respectful of my dietary needs, which my husband and I soo appreciated. We had a wonderful getaway and thoroughly enjoyed not only our time on Cape Cod, but also the fantastic experience of staying at this B&B and all our conversations with Jan, Charlie, and the other guests that stayed during the same time. We definitely will return in the future!

Jan and Charlie are warm, engaging and gracious hosts. You feel like you are staying with friends that you have not seen in a while. Whether it was Jan's delicious daily breakfasts, fresh baked cookies in the afternoon, a complimentary glass of wine near dinner or a special nightcap later in the evening, I always felt like a valued visitor.

The Inn is very clean and well maintained. We especially took advantage of lounging in the living room to peruse the local restaurant menus and attraction pamphlets they have thoughtfully made available. Upon our arrival, Charlie gave us a brief history of the Inn and the Sandwich area and provided us a map of the area with his recommendations on sites to see and things to do. Jan shared her love of the area and their personal history that brought them to the point of owning and operating this lovely B&B where they also reside.

My only caution would be that the back staircase leading to our room and others is steep and narrow and could be a bit challenging for some. If this is a concern, I recommend you ask about the other fine rooms that are more easily accessed. Also, the parking arrangement was a bit awkward. Parallel parking on the left is not easy and backing out into traffic at an intersection not fun.

Room Tip: The back staircase leading to our room was steep and narrow and could be a bit challenging for some...

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this B&B and were extremely happy with our decision to stay there. Jan and Charlie are amazing, and really added that special touch to our stay. We have stayed at other B&Bs in the past and we both agreed that they were what made this place stand out from the others. We felt as if we were staying with family. The Inn is very nice, and clean which is something that is also important to us. We will def be returning!

This was the cleanest B&B we have ever seen. The place was very nice and Jan and Charlie could not have been better hosts. We stayed in the Halstead room upstairs. The room was big and nice. In addition to the breakfast which was fantastic, we were treated with great cookies and wine in the evening.

Room Tip: As noted above the Hlstead was very nice.

My girlfriend and I found this bed and breakfast while planning a trip to Cape Cod a few weeks ago. We wanted to stay at a place that was central to the destinations on our list: Boston, Martha's Vineyard, and Providence/Wellfleet. We booked here and discovered a fantastic little inn where the hosts Jan and Charlie treated us like friends we have known forever. They are the most gracious people we have met while vacationing. Their inn is very homey, divided into several bedrooms, a large common living room, dining room, kitchen, and patio, where you are encouraged to eat and chat with the other guests. It was really nice to meet other people on their hiatuses and share life stories and tips on traveling the Cape. Charlie and Jan will also share their tips about the lesser known spots that are off the tourists' guides. Jan's daily breakfasts were the perfect way to start the day.

Highly recommended for those who are looking for the opposite of the impersonal national chain hotels. I cannot wait til next year to come back!
