“The longest historic district in U.S.”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Most people don't realize that King's Highway (Rt 6A) is a giant historic district. That means that the homes along the route must comply with guidelines to preserve and maintain the historic homes. The route is like a living colonial museum showcasing homes dating from the 1700's to the early 1900's. The road is also dotted with antique shops, gift shops, designer shops, restaurants, and town centers from Sandwich to Orleans. A great day trip for any visit to the Cape.

“Gorgeous!”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Took a trip on 6A, starting in Sandwich. It was just beautiful - the trees, the houses, the downtowns. We went in mid-June, when it was not high peak, so the roads were clear. This is good because it is only a 2 lane highway. If you have not been here before, it is hard to know where to go to see different things. I wish there were more signs to show which side roads to take. Otherwise, it was just another way to see how gorgeous Cape Cod is!

“What a lovely, colorful, enjoyable ride.”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

Driving Rout 6A from one end of Cape Cod to the other is a wonderful, easy, beautiful ride. The exception is during tourist season when the road *two lane" is filled with cars and people. If you are there early in the year, and in the fall, that is the time to ride this road. The foliage, scenery, old houses, and animals are a sight to see. The road used by the early settlers, and then, people moving food from one end of the island to the other, was well used. It is so much more enjoyable to take this road, and many others when you are on a trip, than to just use a freeway. 6A has a lot of history on it, and if the houses and lighthouses could talk, a lot more would be known about Cape Cod, and its inhabitants.

“A High while driving”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

What a gorgeous ride! Get off the highway and take a trip throughout some of the villages on 6A. It is worth the time especially if the time is your own and you are on vacation. You will not miss the cramped and rushed highway and find some interesting places to see and eat.

“One of the most beautiful Drives in North America”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

This has been labelled as one of the most beautiful drives in America and it is very easy to see why ! No matter what time of the year you are driving along 6A you will want to have a convertible to enjoy all the sights and sounds of this treasure of a road. 6A meanders, slowly in most sections ( so don't be in a hurry ) and definitely take many of the little roads that go off to the side of Cape Cod Bay ( the north side of the road). Take a whole day to meander the road and the side-roads, forget maps, follow your nose to the wonderful smell of the marshes, bays and ocean views. No matter how many times you take 6A you will always be delighted with views that you want to keep in your memory bank. Bring your camera, but make sure you stop along the way for great places with little antiques and wonderful eateries. Follow 6A to Wellfleet to Great Island Trail and see where some of the first Colonists came ashore. This and many more ventures are the gifts that 6A keeps on giving.
