Overall, a pretty good experience. Polite staff, the restaurant food is actually pretty good which is also a plus considering limited dining options in Sandwich (go to MashPee if you really want good food). My only comment is that the hotel needs a 'refreshing'.....things seem old, decor is 'stayed'. The carpeting in our room was stained and they have a shower soft water attachment which looked a little odd......Would make a great HGTV redo show.

Room Tip: The rooms with fireplaces and heated floors are a plus. We were there during the off season so it wa...

everything- from the look of the place from the outside, to check in/out process to the tastefully and very comfortable room to the dining room experience to the plentiful and cheery staff was top notch. i've known about the hotel for years but have never been there before this weekend. i'll certainly be back!

Room Tip: we had room 10. it was a great!

This is a memorable place to stay. There has been an inn on this site for 300 years and the current one retains a charming air of history. Our room was cosy and tastefully furnished even though I do not like televisions hidden in cupboards. The staff are efficient and friendly and the ambience is warm and relaxed.

I lived on Cape Cod for 21 years, and Sandwich is one of my favorite towns. Unfortunately I was relocated to greater Boston and now my wife and I miss the ocean.

The Dan'l Webster is a small Inn with a nice garden, atrium dining, a gift shop and ample parking. The location is excellent. The service was great and our needs were addressed with a smile. The original building is very old and the creaky floors add a little bit of character. Our room was off a back hallway that was a tad noisy to foot traffic. The room was wonderful with it's 4-poster bed, TV, clean bath area, a K-Cup coffee machine (bring your favorites if you don't like GM Breakfast Blend) and an iPod dock which we loved. I would add that, although the rooms was very nice, the inn is showing it's age in some areas, such as the carpeting and finish.

Staying on Main ST, you are walk to everything in the village including antiques, gifts, ice cream and a variety of other small shops. The inn itself, has it's own pub and dining room so you don't have to leave if you choose not to visit some of the local restaurants. It is about 5 -10 minutes drive to the a couple of beaches. Our favorite is Sandy Neck, a beautiful beach with 4 wheel drive access, a bath house and good parking. It is close proximity to the Cape Cod Canal which has 6.5 miles of bike trails on both sides. It is suitable for walking, biking, and rollerblading. You are not from from Barnstable Harbor where you can go on a whale watch too.

We enjoyed a couple of the small local Museums including the Heritage Museum and the Thornton W. Burgess Museum.

The dining was really good. The menus are smaller than most restaurants, but the choices were nice. The food was good to excellent, depending on what we ordered. The dinner service was very relaxed and we spent 2 hours at the table.

We had a romance package so there was champagne (or sparkling cider) on ice with chocolates. It included dinner, turn down service, and breakfast.

Expect to pay more during the summer and vacation weeks. Dining was about $100 for a dinner for two.

We would recommend it for a quick getaway or a longer stay without children.

Our experience at the inn was wonderful. Everyone was attentive and knowledgeable. The room was beautiful, and everyone was very accommodating. Even the Beach Plum Spa exceeded our expectations. The only disappointment was that we only stayed for one night. We will definitely be returning.

The friendly and competant staff, the beautiful setting of the "conservatory" dining room with view of the gardens outside, and the early American decor make this a wonderful getaway spot at the top of the Cape. Coupled with an excellent restaurant, a mid-winter stayover was relaxing and comfortable. (The one negative: walls between the rooms allowed sound from adjacent rooms to come through; rooms in other section of the Inn may have better soundproofing).

Booked to stay here on the recommendation of a friend who lives locally. Warm and cosy inn. We stayed two nights - very relaxing and great nights of sleep - nice beds. We did change the room that we were originally given as it faced an internal corridor with minimal natural light - but front desk soon sorted out an alternative which was great albeit at a small additional cost. While we didn't eat in - other than for the breakfast we did see the food while having a drink in the tavern and it looked pretty good. Okay you pay for the ambience over an alternative run of the mill motel - but it's worth it. Only negative - you could hear the shower being run in the rooms either side of us - which is okay providing you aren't next to early risers.

Room Tip: I would avoid the rooms with windows facing into the internal corridor - bit dark and lacking in nat...
