Title: Pit-Stops thru the Cape-MA
Stayed at Cape Cod Irish Village Hotel, in Yarmouth, MA - Monday 26 August, through 30, 2013, my room was very spacious, very nice layout, a little sitting area, then the bedroom. However the bed(s) were very uncomfortable, I tried both and they squeaked and the mattresses were soft. My toilet did not flush properly, I left a note for the cleaning staff the Tuesday morning stating this and it was never attended to during my stay. The dining room staff very efficient and friendly, as is the manager Tommy. The night entertainment at the hotel was also enjoyable.
I visited Hyannis and Sandwich including the JFK Museum which displayed family photos of JFK and his family (It was sad, when you saw all the family having fun at their Cape Cod vacation home, and then knowing the tragedy that unfolded in later years for the family). I also visited the JFK Memorial, and St. Francis Xavier church the Kennedys attended. Another place of interest Zion Union Heritage Museum, which celebrates the history of African Americans and other people of color on the Cape very knowledgeable narrator of African history, there are lots of exhibits to view as well as purchase items. I took the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard for a day trip, from Wood Hole, MA comfortable ride (if seated on open upper deck, look out for the seagulls as they swooped down and grasp food out of passengers' fingers, scary and hilarious at the same time. On the island did a guided bus tour, when that was ended visit the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church to see the Tiffany windows and browse through the town, walked down to the waterfront/wharf. Took the tour bus back to the gingerbread houses, and walked around a bit, very peaceful and beautiful it's amazing to have that serenity and just a block away is the bustle of the holiday crowd. After viewing the houses, you can walk through a path and you will be on a bustling street with stores and crowds, from there you can walk back to the ferry. Note: You can plan your arrival and tour places of interest on the vineyard, walk back to the ferry area, and spend your remaining time at the beach where the ferry docks, a little way up the street, it can't be missed. I also visited the Outer Cape; the Eastham Windmill, the Cape Cod National Seashore Race Point Visitor Center, and the Marconi Station area very spectacular view, where you can see the entire cape. It also brings into prospective how much erosion takes place with the ocean and land. Visited Providence town this is my absolute favorite- very energetic, diversified town, easy to walk to places off interest, and also view works by street side artist, and galleries. I also did the whale watching tour. Definitely on my "bucket list" in two years' time to revisit Ptown for a week.
