“Pit Stops Thru The Cape”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 October 2013

Subject: Cape Cod Irish Village
Location: South Yarmouth, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, United States, North America
Title: Pit-Stops thru the Cape-MA

Stayed at Cape Cod Irish Village Hotel, in Yarmouth, MA - Monday 26 August, through 30, 2013, my room was very spacious, very nice layout, a little sitting area, then the bedroom. However the bed(s) were very uncomfortable, I tried both and they squeaked and the mattresses were soft. My toilet did not flush properly, I left a note for the cleaning staff the Tuesday morning stating this and it was never attended to during my stay. The dining room staff very efficient and friendly, as is the manager Tommy. The night entertainment at the hotel was also enjoyable.
I visited Hyannis and Sandwich including the JFK Museum which displayed family photos of JFK and his family (It was sad, when you saw all the family having fun at their Cape Cod vacation home, and then knowing the tragedy that unfolded in later years for the family). I also visited the JFK Memorial, and St. Francis Xavier church the Kennedys attended. Another place of interest Zion Union Heritage Museum, which celebrates the history of African Americans and other people of color on the Cape very knowledgeable narrator of African history, there are lots of exhibits to view as well as purchase items. I took the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard for a day trip, from Wood Hole, MA comfortable ride (if seated on open upper deck, look out for the seagulls as they swooped down and grasp food out of passengers' fingers, scary and hilarious at the same time. On the island did a guided bus tour, when that was ended visit the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church to see the Tiffany windows and browse through the town, walked down to the waterfront/wharf. Took the tour bus back to the gingerbread houses, and walked around a bit, very peaceful and beautiful it's amazing to have that serenity and just a block away is the bustle of the holiday crowd. After viewing the houses, you can walk through a path and you will be on a bustling street with stores and crowds, from there you can walk back to the ferry. Note: You can plan your arrival and tour places of interest on the vineyard, walk back to the ferry area, and spend your remaining time at the beach where the ferry docks, a little way up the street, it can't be missed. I also visited the Outer Cape; the Eastham Windmill, the Cape Cod National Seashore Race Point Visitor Center, and the Marconi Station area very spectacular view, where you can see the entire cape. It also brings into prospective how much erosion takes place with the ocean and land. Visited Providence town this is my absolute favorite- very energetic, diversified town, easy to walk to places off interest, and also view works by street side artist, and galleries. I also did the whale watching tour. Definitely on my "bucket list" in two years' time to revisit Ptown for a week.

This was our second stay here at Irish Village! Can't say enough good things about the hotel, restaurant, and the service. They are wonderful, and the food is amazing! They can handle such large groups of people, and the service is still first rate. Loved the entertainment, and the atmosphere. They truly bring the experience of being in Ireland to the states. See you next year!

We enjoyed a great meal at Cape Cod Irish Village but did not stay at the hotel. Our group ate dinner and enjoyed the live entertainment. The large room was full of people eating dinner, but the wonderful young people staffing the restaurant was so efficient and friendly, we were served with lightning speed, and the food was very good. I had the Lazy Lobster, but those who ordered the whole lobster had lots of help cracking it as some of the staff came to the table and in a flash, had each lobster cracked and ready to enjoy. What makes this place so nice is the young men and women working there; I hope they are well paid as they served quickly and with smiles, and kept everyone's coffe cups, etc., filled. Enjoyed the singing as well.

Room Tip: Did not stay at this hotel but enjoyed a dinner only.

Not being of Irish descent, after 2 days staying here, I definitely feel some Irish roots. I hard a long drive getting there, partly because of traffic and partly because I listened to my gps rather than instinct. Helpful, suggestion, on your directions page, include mileage on route 6, I never would have imagined a 20 mile ride.
Hotel itself is not a standout, but the hospitality of Tommy, the host of the restaurant/ bar is astounding. He serves, seats you,,politely directs others, sings and is a history aficionado. If given the chance, there is nothing Tommy could not do. Hats off to your energy and spirit.
As for the hotel, over all its ok, rooms look a little outdated with some marks, bedding was not the most comfortable, menu had choices but would have like some fresh fruit options on the menu, music was stale after the 2 nd song, front desk people were very friendly and saved me when I was lost.

We made a special trip to the Village to eat in the restaurant.. The music and singing was very entertaining. The lobster was very good. Our waitress was great. Very friendly and helpful. We did not have to wait long for any additional items that were requested.

Can only comment on the evening entertainment since that is why we stopped there after dining at another location. We had to sit in the bar since that was the only seating to listen to the band. The first night there was a four person band while the second night it was just one guy with an accordion with some prerecorded music playing as well. One of the hardest workers in the place has to be the bar tender George who not only runs the bar single handed most of the time he takes care of all the drink orders from the waitresses as well.

We used to stay at the Irish Village at it's old location years ago. On an impromptu trip to the Cape recently we decided to try the new location. While the staff are still welcoming and lovely, the rest of the experience was disappointing.
The room was nothing special. The beds are hard and the furnishing are dated. It was clean enough, but looked pretty worn out for such a new location. It looks like they simply moved into the new location and forgot the renovation work - the bathroom wall paper was peeling and ripped.
In the morning we stopped in to check out the gift shop - a staple of the old Irish Village. It was pretty sparse and not at all like the shop at the previous location.
We wished we had skipped staying here and kept the happy memories in tack. With so many other lodging options of similar price and style, we will be choosing another place to stay on our next visit to the Cape. Sadly, the Irish Village seems to be trading on their name recognition and history, but not living up to the standard it once set.
