We stayed in Woodstock CT, and my wife saw the Vienna restaurant and Historic Inn on TA. As we both love German food, we decided to go there for supper...so glad we did. I ordered onion soup which was good and my wife had the Caesar salad. My meal came with a "simple salad" both were great. My wife ordered the Boar off the special menu which was delicious and I had my favorite, wiener schnitzel, which was good and we both loved the red cabbage and spaetzel . There was a nice selection of German style beer and wine to choose from. The waitress was great and knowledgeable about the menu and at the end of the meal when we declined dessert she said we could always come back for just dessert and coffee. Definitely an idea to consider if we visit the area again, which we intend to! The restaurant is small (2 front rooms) but has a lovely, home like atmosphere to it. The building itself is landlocked with not much room for parking but there is parking on the street. Loved the waitstaff dressed in traditional garb and soft background music.
