The Summer House is an icon in Southwick. Originally a Friendly's Ice Cream seasonal restaurant in the 70's, it was sold and became The Summer House sometime in the 1980's. The food at the Summer House started out seasonally but after the remodel in the 1990's, it's became an all-year round tradition. They offer the usually food, burgers, dogs, and ice cream, but they also offer delicious clam strip rolls and daily specials - all very reasonably priced and great tasting. The Summer House reminds me of the way Friendly's use to be - inexpensive great tasting food. AND NOW THEY OFF GLUTEN-FREE ITEMS on their menu. I just had a burger with a gluten-free bun and it was delicious. I believe they use Udi's products. I've eaten a lot of gluten-free buns and most are dry, hard, and little taste. Their buns are soft and tasty. They have lots of ice cream choices and sundae options. You must stop and try them out. A good place to go after a day at the Granville Fair in October, but great any day all-year long! They are also family friendly. There is a train with cars attached for the kids to play on and there's even an area for you other family members - your dogs! There is a fire hydrant and an elimination area. See it
great for the ENTIRE family!!
