Owner description: This lighthouse was the first light sailors glimpsed when reaching this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Even though we visited off-season, the staff/volunteers were extremely accommodating and helpful. The view from up in the light was gorgeous, and the small shop held many interesting items. The cranberry soap was especially fragrant! Don't forget to pet the adorable canine light keepers. Our tour up into the light was led by Dan, who was very informative, telling many stories of the lighthouse and the Cape. Additionally, the small museum right off the gift shop had old lights and was full of fascinating information. A short film is shown in an adjoining room that tells of the lighthouse's move back from the sea, funded by federal, state, and local agencies alike. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone who is the least bit interested in light houses or history!

The Highland Light is located right in the middle of a golf course! Park near the Golf Pro shop (which also has snacks) and walk down a path past greens to the lighthouse itself. 30 minute tours to the top run $4. Walk to the viewing areas near the edge of the cliffs to see the endless Atlantic and tall cliffs along the shore.

It was very cold and windy when I went here, but it was still beautiful to look at. I also walked around there.

Great to tick off another lighthouse on your list of things to see, but is a bit weathered and no beach access.
