“Visit - A Bright Idea”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

The Highland Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse at Cape Cod dating back to 1857, is located off South Highland Road. The lighthouse is open daily from 10am with public tours for a $4 fee throughout the year from mid-May to mid-October. Known locally as the Highland Light, the officially named Cape Cod Light stands 120 feet and a climb up the narrow steep stairs rewards visitors with fantastic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Cod/Massachusetts Bay, Provincetown Monument as well as the local Highlands of Truro. Local fund raising has secured a new safe site for the Light a little further inland due to the danger of dune erosion of its original site. Unfortunately viewing of the original location and ocean has somewhat restricted access due a golf course (and golfers) between the light and the coastline. Worth a visit, there is car parking and a decent souvenir shop on site.

“Easy access to Highland (Cape Cod) Headlight”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

Handicap access vehicles can drive up to the headlight & gift shop. The gift shop & museum are accessible by a ramp. The headlight is not directly on the Atlantic but one can walk out to an observation area to see it through a golf course. The gift shop person was very helpful & proud to be there.

“Unique spot & scenery on the Outer Cape (Cape Cod, MA)”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

Highland Light has a history that goes back for hundreds of years. It is, thanks to preservationists, still perched very near to its original site (the ocean side dune it is perched on is eroding, and a group of people with a reverence for the Cape's maritime history have raised funds and had it moved back from certain destruction, a bit farther inland but proximate to its original spot. The view from a climb up into the top of the light house is amazing, as you can see both the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Cod/Massachusetts Bay and the Provincetown Monument.
This is a very sweet spot to visit if you aren't into plastic creatures & hype. Enjoy an authentic historic site with sweeping views.

“Beautiful Spot”
Reviewed 24 September 2013 via mobile

Incredible / panoramic views and interesting history from this picturesque lighthouse. The $4 tour was well worth being able to climb to the top - however stairs were narrow & steep and may be difficult to management for some people.

“A wonderful lighthouse to visit”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

Well hello there! I decided I would give a quick review of Highland Light.
Short review, its a wonderful Lighthouse, they have a gift shop, you can tour it and walk to the top, and is a great place to be at sunset. There is also a Truro museum in the highland house before the actual lighthouse, if you are interested. The bathrooms are also located here, so do'n't walk out to the light thinking you will see any there.
This lighthouse was moved to its present location, due to fear of erosion. You can walk out to sea its former location closer to the cliffs.
The only thing that I don't like here, is the overwelming presence of the golf course here, and all the "golfers allowed only" signs everywhere. So views are limited. Especially if you are a photographer like me. I may or may not have "forgotten" the signs were there cause I wanted a better photo of the lighthouse during a sunset, and being a semi pro, If I need the shot, well I gotta get it! But I suggest asking if anyone is there. Hopefully the elite golfing community would have a good attitude,
