“small and unsuspecting”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

Great food. Decent service. Very low key and laid back atmosphere. An awesome "hole in the wall" for a good mexican meal when you're looking to relax.

“Tiny but good”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

I am not sure about other restaurants in Waltham, but this was pretty good. I would not call it the best Mexican food I have ever had, but it was honest and plentiful. The problem is that it is so small one has to wait a long time to sit. I do not think it is worth the wait or have to sit near the door and endure the cold blast that comes in whenever the door is opened. IF you don't have to wait, stay, if there is a line and it is cold outside, go elsewhere.

“Best hole in the wall”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

Be prepared with cash though you will need very little. In a very basic restaurant you will find some great food. Imagine you are in Mexico and you will even like the ambience. And remember the food makes up and the bill leaves you with a big smile on the face!

“Poor service and discriminatory attitude”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

Food is so-so, but the service is extremely poor --- borderline discriminatory to "gringos" or to people who aren't friends of the waitstaff.

We got in on a Sat night at around 5 pm. The place was full, but one table was finishing up and getting ready to pay, so we decided to wait for them. After about ten minutes, the guys left and we sat down. The staff ignored us for a while until a big Mexican family with two kids came in and greeted the waitress in Spanish. At that point the waitress/owner came to us and told us we had to give up the table because that family that just entered "had been waiting for it"! We were shocked and in disbelief. There were no apologies--nothing, and mind you, we had been waiting for a while ourselves and we were the only guys standing up around there.

The place is quite small; there is no waiting list, no reservations, and I find it hard to believe that the family with two toddlers had been sitting outside in the cold hiding in the bushes for 15 min before we arrived. They were most likely just friends of the waitress, a bigger group, or just not "gringos". One thing is for sure: the attitude towards them and the attention they received was completely different...

We gave up the table (what else could you do?--you can't force them to serve you if they don't want to) and we inquired about getting food to go. We were told to wait and after being ignored for another five minutes, we left, seriously disappointed.

Otherwise, the food is so-so --we had eaten there two or three times before. The tacos are either a hit or a miss depending on when they were cooked. They are a bit more authentic than your average Boston taqueria, but still nothing compared to Mexico.

I don't think we'll ever return there and given the poor service and attitude towards "gringos", I don't think we can recommend this place to anybody.

“Ya gotta be kidding'!”
Reviewed 2 November 2013 via mobile

This is #1 in Waltham? This must be a joke. Yes, the food is authentic and the service friendly but I have eaten Mexican all over the country and especially Texas, and this is ordinary fare to be expected. Nothing special. I mean what in the world. The place is a dump. The door sticky. More than a hole in the wall. My guess is friends and cousins sent these reviews.
