Janine's first opened in 1956. At that time, Janine's occupied a prominent location right on Route 9. The years have brought changes and Route 9 has been straightened, so that Janine's Frostee now lies almost out of sight from the highway. The locals know it's there, though, and there is usually a line for both food and ice cream on a summer evening.
The drive-in restaurant is popular for its burgers, fries, hot dogs, and fried seafood. I'm not a big fan of their onion rings, though. I go to Howard's in West Brookfield for those. The hard ice cream they serve is very good. It's Giffords and they carry 25 flavors.
Janine's is open seasonally from late spring through October. Their website will give you the best information.
