Wonderful experience at the Shaker Mill Inn, West Stockbridge, MA. Bob and Mary were wonderful hosts, very comfortable accommodations, immaculate and charming rooms. Cozy, country setting, path that leads to center of town. Pet friendly complete with doggie treats to welcome our Golden Retriever. They thought of everything! Three miles from Tanglewood, five minutes to Stockbridge Center, off the beaten path yet convenient to everything we wanted. I would gladly stay here again. FYI: wonderful breakfast at Caffe Pomo D'Oro in town - don't miss it!

We stayed here on our way home from the NH White Mountains. With our 1 yr old and my elderly mother, we needed to travel at a more leisurely pace. This was an ideal stopover. West Stockbridge is a charming and secluded little town in the Berkshires and the Inn was like staying at a friend's apartment (while the friend's away). The decore is contemporary and inviting, the room spacious, and the innkeepers took care to stock the kitchenette and dining area with all the basic necessities (dishes, silverware, and glassware, microwave (and popcorn!), toaster oven, coffee maker, paper towels, sponge and dish soap. All this alongside the generous in-room continental breakfast (fresh pastries from local bakeries) and assorted beverages all help to ensure the comforts of home.
We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place.

The only caveat I would advise is - the ceiling is a bit thin so you can hear traffic in the upstairs room (which was occupied by another family with an active toddler on the night of our stay). Since our own little one was quite lively as well during his waking hours, we really can't complain - and the noises quited down as soon as the child was put to bed. For those who MAY be bothered by such noises, I would recommend staying on the 2nd floor.

Wow, what a great place ! With most of the rooms in being renovated, we booked the "honeymoon suite" to celebrate our anniversay. It was a one night booking... wish we could have stayed a week. Not your typical B&B. This room was huge, cozy with a gas fireplace, king bed AND two person jacuzzi !!!. You can have your breakfast ( continental items supplied ) RIGHT in your room . Within walking distance of a great little French Restaurant. Do not be worried about the ambience of the grounds. The room is the key !!! Next visit will be at least a week.

The Inn is the perfect spot for discerning travellers who are chintzophobic about overly dainty B&B's and tired of cookie cutter motel chains. Shaker Mill offers charm without cramped, Victorian clutter and the privacy and comfort of a modern motel simultaneously.

Our room, actually a generous mini suite had a very comfortable couch with good lighting for reading, a breakfast table for 4 and a lovely private patio. We enjoyed our 'snack area' with counter, wet bar, mini fridge, toaster oven and microwave. The room was thoughtfully stocked with gourmet coffees,&teas, milk, juices, sweet rolls, scones and oatmeal. A special touch were yogurt parfaits.

The inn keepers are wonderful. They love and know the area, handling reservations and details effortlessly for you. We encountered some troubling, nosiy guests and were astonished by the lenghts they went to in rectifying the situation for us.

The village center is a short, pleasant walk away with wonderful shopping and restaurants ( especially Rouge, a French restaurant). If you are looking for an affordable ( a rarity in the Berkshires!) & comfortable setting, I wholly recommend the Shaker Mill.

I would heartily recommend the Shaker Mill Inn for a stopover. The rooms were large clean and bright. The breakfast were the standard motel fair of cereals, begals, juice and tea and coffe. The location was quiet and convenient for the village centre and the Hancock Shaker Village.
