“Horrible Service With Dust Mite Frenzy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

Yes the beds are clean. Yes they have an all you can eat carbs breakfast. No you cannot have service with a smile and you are likely putting them out by asking them to do (insert request here). A wake up call garners a long sigh. A complaint about the children on the trampoline in the room above us makes us unreasonable. If you want quiet this is not the place. Kids are running the 50 yard dash down the hallways and their parents are talking loud enough you would swear they just joined you in your room. I do not even remotely understand the previous reviews. This is an overpriced motel folks, in need of significant renovation. The wallpaper, brown curtains, 80s standalone fridge, and mauve laminate in the bathroom, dates this to the late 70s-early 80s. The location is central for your plans on the Cape whatever they may be. I have to say I would not honestly recommend staying here. If you have children and quiet doesn't interest you it might be okay. Though I have woke up each morning wheezing and itching as a result of the inch thick dust rimming the carpet in the room. I'll never understand beachside resorts having carpet. I don't know that any of the other places in the area have been updated - everything looks pretty tired and worn. Just think what a hotel worth staying at could garner if these subpar spots can charge 200+/night. Apparently no one has caught in or cares.

Our third trip to the Cape this year and our third stay at the Bayside. Comfortable clean rooms, friendly staff . Close to everything and easy highway access. We enjoyed the indoor pool and the cute bar they have

Everything very clean. Crisp white sheets on beds and pools very inviting. Room standard size, a little tight for 2 adults and 2 children.Breakfast a little busy but plenty to choose from including make your own waffles. No elevator so if you're on second floor you go 2 flights down to breakfast room. Room wasn't ready but let us use outdoor pool to wait for 3:00 check- in. Staff seemed to watch out for safety like putting down umbrellas on windy day. Overall very enjoyable stay, would return.

Room Tip: Don't choose near stairs as people getting ice early in am might disturb you

We booked a trip to the cape without really knowing much about where we wanted to stay. Provincetown was a consideration, but it's all the way at the tip and we wanted to be closer to Boston and the city of Worcester where a close friend of our's lives. So we decided to stay mid-cape and I found the Bayside. They offered some great amenities and the price was right. The staff was very friendly at check in. They gave us some coupons and directions to local attractions. Our room was adequate, nothing fancy. It was quite large but also a little outdated with its decor and fixtures. The hotel is right on Route 28, which is pretty much the main drag on the cape. You can follow it up and down and get to all the little towns. Right in the vicinity of the hotel are plenty of restaurants and attractions that you could walk to. The road is pretty busy so I didn't attempt towalk it, but plenty of people were. The hotel has a great outdoor pool with a bar that we really enjoyed. They had an indoor pool with a jacuzzi as well. They have an adult only swim from 10-11 each night, which is great, but an hour isn't quite long enough, 9-11 would be better. A staff member had asked all the kids under 18 to leave the pool but she didn't walk through the whole pool area and one family, who somehow missed all the posted signs, lingered. I had to go out and bring it to the staff member's attention. The hotel offers free continental breakfast, which was very convenient. They have a fitness center, which I tried to use but the treadmills were locked in some kind of safe mode and required a key to start. There was no spot to insert a key so I was confused about that. They have a nice beach area out back and a nightly campfire. Unfortunately we didn't get to take advantage of it because there were only about 10 chairs around the fire, do if you weren't there right when they lit the fire you could forget about getting a chair. In general, it was an okay experience. The other reviews are on point in regards to the thin walls, the noise and the children, an the staff's either inability or incapability to mitigate those things. It was good for what we paid but we probably wouldn't stay there again.

Room Tip: Beds are hard

We settled on Bayside as our place to stay based on their website and location. While the location in relation to it's position on the Cape isn't bad, the website made the hotel more attractive than it actually is. The rooms are typical, but the beds are uncomfortable. The pools are so over-chlorinated that it burns your eyes just being near them. While the view on the private "beach" overlooking a salt marsh appears beautiful on the website, it usually doesn't look that way. The pictures were taken at high tide, so for most of the day, you're looking at mud. The gas firepit is a nice touch though. They light it at night and it's nice to sit around it and chat with other hotel guests. The WiFi is absolutely terrible...to the point that it's almost useless. The signal is strong, but you can't get on 90% of websites you try to access. In fact, I am at the hotel right now and I have to use my cellphone to write this review, because I can't get on the Tripadvisor site with my PC.
Overall, the hotel is average. The staff is pleasant and helpful, but that's not reason enough to want to return here. Maybe I seem a little harsh. It's just that I expected better...

Dear Bsselegel,

Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment with our pool and WiFi. The Board of Health requires we keep our chlorine levels between 3-5ppm for water safety. Our Certified Pool Operators test the water 4 times per day to ensure we maintain safe levels. Many people are very sensitive to chlorine. We suggest you Google how persons with sensitive skin can enjoy public pools using chlorine.

We apologize for any issues you had with our free wifi by Liveport. Apparently there were some firmware issues that needed to be addressed after an apple update.
