Went out with Bob for his new Nauset Marsh kayak tour. It was cloudy and windy when we launched from Hemening Road in Eastham. Bob said the trip was iffy, but the timing of the tide meant that we either went then or not at all. The poor weather looked like it might blow out so we went.
Bob did a great job of leading us through the Marsh and into a good 20 knot headwind. He had us hub the marsh to minimize the effect of the wind and avoided the dangerous mud flats at the low time that would have left us stuck in the muck. The payoff was terrific. We reached the opening to the Atlantic--where the Nauset Beach barrier opens not far from the Coast Guard Station--to paddle with a large group of grey seals. It was great fun to have these sea creatures popping up 10-15 feet from your boat. The trip back was timed to have us ride in on the rising tide. Bob was right and the weather cleared leaving a great blue sky and lots of sunshine.
Bob offered wonderful insights into the fauna and flora of the area as well as running commentary on the sea and shore birds we passed. He supplies everything that you will need including dry bags for the items you want to carry with you out on the water. He is friendly guy and a terrific guide. You will enjoy you time paddling with him wether you are a complete novice or an experienced paddler.
