Stonehaven Family Farm
Reviewed 13 December 2010

Our first stay in the US and we long back for more. We will definitely go back to the area of Newport and stay at Stonehaven family farm to explore it further. The farm offers a five star feeling with organic, delightful breakfasts and we also booked dinner (fresh lobster!). We slept fantastic in a large, comfortable room with a view to the sheep at the field and the ocean behind. We had our own marble bathroom with a jaccuzi. Our 11- year old daughter is allergic to gluten and this place was the easiest place for us to stay regarding food. The host served strawberry and lovely yoghurt, omelets, fresh fruit etc. A big smile on all of us every morning. The children came along to see what it is like to have a farm with animals. We received good advice on restaurants, beaches, sightseeing-trips etc. We chose a farmstay to make sure our 8 year old boy who loves animals would experience something else than hotels. This stay gave us an insight to american life and we felt sad to leave. We will be back!

Stonehaven Family Farm is an incredibly beautiful little farm stay in a great location. The farm has horned Dorset sheep, free range chickens, a lovely vegetable garden, and a great view overlooking the wide Westport River. Virginia is a wonderful, generous host and a great cook, serving breakfast and dinner almost entirely from her own farm. The comfy, spacious guest room is on the second floor of the house, with a huge bathroom and jacuzzi tub, an airy bedroom with lots of windows, and a lovely balcony. A second room with two twin beds can accommodate children. The farm is only five minutes from Horseneck Beach. I can't say enough about the beauty of this place.

The farm is set on a hilltop overlooking a river, sheep pastures between the house and river, ducks and chickens, as well as glorious gardens (the lilies came out during my stay), snap beans, mint, lettuce, berries, pretty good stuff. At night, far from street lights, the brilliance of the full moon was breathtaking. I intend to return,
