“Such a Nice Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

It was good to find Pera on Spring Street this summer during our 2014 treks to the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Were so pleased we came twice and brought guests with us the second time; they were thoroughly satisfied as well. There's a step up from the sidewalk, where table are available for outdoor service (personally, I never understood why people want to eat next to a parked car, or moving ones for that matter, but, hey, whatever) The inside is spare, and relatively small, but very comfortable, with banquette seating, regular tables, and a couple high tops next to the windows. It looks at first as if noise would be a problem, but not so. Local artists are on display.Don't count on sitting at the bar, though; it's in a corner near the kitchen in the back, and has only 4 stools. The dishes are familiar yet prepared creatively, with fresh ingredients, and nicely presented. Servers were knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in making choices. Wine selections are reasonably priced. We have had the appetizer platter (as an entree it is a more than satisfying summertime choice), the stuffed scallops (rich and well-balanced with spices, the lamb burger (very juicy and very good, although it could stand to be presented with a few accompaniments since it looked somewhat lonely on the plate). Our friends shared the kabobs for two and said it was very good--the lamb portion tender, the chicken one not at all dry, and the spicing not too much for their palates.Entrees are accompanied by a choice of starches or the house salad, which I think is excellent. The owner was there both times, making sure his customers were treated well. I hope he makes a go of this restaurant because it's good. We'll be back

“Wonderful lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

We were pleased to find this cozy restaurant after a visit to The Clark, and delighted with our meal. The red lentil soup was tasty, followed by their "Blue BLT", which is a salad rather than sandwich, and wonderful with the shrimp that I chose to add. Mrs. Gyr gave an A+ grade to the Mulligatawny soup. Pera Is a Williamstown delight, and we plan to return!

“Excellent food”

Had lamb kabobs and hummus/tabbouleh plate. Both were wonderful. Restaurant is small. The service was excellent. Will return the next time we are in Williamstown.

“Honest, consistent & creative good food....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

In a modest storefront on Spring Street, the staff of Pera deliver quality, comfortable & tasty fare at fair prices with grace & friendliness. A joy to dine here and enjoy the great, creative & unpretentious cuisine.
I've been to Pera twice and easily recommend it to all. Every thing we have tried was satisfying; the service was great & the owner - when he's not mopping the floor or fixing a light bulb (!!!) - is a charmer.

“good service but terrible food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

Ate here when visiting town. Chose this restaurant based on trip advisor, but my family and I left terribly disappointed. First, we ordered soup for appetizers but were informed that the chef had put away the soups for the evening and would not bring them back out.....keep in mind that it was a full hour before the restaurant was scheduled to close.

When it came to our meals, all four of us ordered a different items from the menu, and each of the dishes were very bad. Food lacked any flavor. Fra Diavlo sauce had no spice but tasted more like it was sweetened. Salmon was dry, lamb kabobs were thrown on a piece of pita next to a wilted piece of lettuce, and wife's penne primavera was so bland she needed a side of hot sauce to make edible.

Overall would strongly encourage people to choose somewhere else. Eat here and you will be disappointed
