“Just Perfect”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

My husband and I had a perfect elopement weekend because of the staff at Woods Hole Inn. They were accommodating, nice and attended to every one of our needs. They made the inn feel like a home away from home.
We stayed in room 5 which had its own private entrance and had a living room area off of the bedroom. It was so beautiful and romantic, I highly recommend it for vacations with your loved one.
The location near the ferry was perfect for when we wanted to go to Martha's Vineyard. No need to worry about parking and taking the shuttle over to the Steamship Authority.
Breakfast is something you cannot miss at the Woods Hole Inn. It is absolutely divine. It is only served for two hours a day but they are willing to make you little to-go bags if you are leaving before breakfast is served, all you have to do is ask, how awesome is that!

The only downsides we experienced were that you can hear the ferry loud and clear so if you are a light sleeper it wakes you up and the rooms do not have black out curtains so you basically wake up with the sun rise.

Overall, I love this place and I would visit again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Room five is so cute and romantic it has its own private entrance and is the perfect honeymoon suite...

Thank you to all the staff for making us feel welcomed and comfortable at Woods Hole. The Penzance room was clean, spacious, had a balcony and amazing views. Location was central to walk to bars and restaurants. Ferry for Martha Vineyards right opposite. Great cycle path to Falmouth. Homemade breakfast was healthy, delicious and plentiful. We would highly recommend and would love to come back.

Room Tip: This is one of their best rooms, however there is a fan right outside the room which can be heard if...

Thanks so much for this nice review Davlen, so glad you enjoyed the Penzance Room with the water view deck looking out over all of Woods Hole Harbor and the ferries to Martha's Vineyard. I am thrilled you used our bikes to explore the Shining Sea Bike Path up to Falmouth, a really unique day's excursion from here. Hope to see you both soon!

This is a great Inn which has been renovated to a great standard. Lovely and quaint with little added extras like lollipops, candied pretzels, star shaped soap. Room decorated to a high standard. Our room had an outside balcony where you could sit and watch the ferry coming and going to Marthas Vineyard and people watch on the main street. Breakfast was the best breakfast I have ever eaten in a hotel. Everything was home made, even the croissants. Breakfast consisted of everything you could think of, from Granola and Yoghurt and fresh fruit to scrambled eggs and bacon, different breads and cakes. The staff from the valet to the front desk were amazing - ;so helpful with everything; Loved the t-shirt and now trying to think of an amazing place to take a photograph.

Thanks for this nice review. I am glad you are thinking about entering our photo contest, as several lucky winners will get free nights at the inn next year when we announce in April 2015. Pros:Location next to ferry, great beds. Breakfast included but no meat items. Nice extras in room to welcome guests.

Cons: Right next to bar with loud music. Room I furnished with garage sale type furniture. Window A/C had gaps all round so bugs came in. Slow internet. Small shower. Cracked glass on bathroom cabinet. Room shows very poor upkeep of maintenance. Kind of run down , not quaint.
Overall we had an enjoyable stay but it's very overpriced. We stayed at exclusive Ramada in Niagara Falls for same rate we paid for this.
Breakfast ladies did a great job on the food but again no meat served.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 2 right next to noisy bar. Noise was okay after 11pm. King size bed was excellent. Ou...

Hi Bob -

I am so appreciative of your honesty in this review, for without your feedback we can not keep our standards at the very highest. I will take a close look at this room based on your assessment and see what we can do to improve it. I am glad you found the bed comfortable, and enjoyed the location close to the Vineyard ferry terminal.

For clarity, our continental breakfast spread always includes at least one meat dish such as sausage or bacon quiche, along with our fresh croissants, home baked muffins and sweet breads, fresh cut fruit, yoghurt, house made granola and of course hot coffee tea and juice. We always make sure there is a vegetarian option as well, and if you are gluten free we can accommodate that as well. Breakfast is served continental style and is all-you-can-eat.

I am grateful to TripAdvisor for proving this forum, and to you for your detailed review.

I hope we see you again one day.

best,

Beth Colt

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were very accommodating, from the valet to the servers. My partner and I loved it so much that we are planning a return trip! The room we stayed in had me taking pictures for future decor at home. I loved staying here.

Thanks so much for coming to stay with us, and for already planning your return trip. Check out the blog on our website for pictures and tips (including all the paint colors we used) to decorate the inn. We completed a total make-over of this vintage 1880's building in 2012, so if you look to the blog that year you can see a bunch of "before during and after" photos. If you are like me and love watching HGTV, you will enjoy those posts!

We look forward to seeing you soon.

The Inn is a wonderfully restored historic house. We stayed in the Penzance room which could not have been better and the breakfasts were "to die for". The staff from the valet to the front desk were friendly and accommodating handling all of our requests.

We stayed here for 1 night (wished we could have stayed for a week) in room 5 which we were upgraded to. Great 2 room suite on the front of the building very clean with a gas fireplace in the bedroom. Bed was super comfortable it did get a bit loud with partiers walking by but it didn't bother us if you think it would bother you then get a room on a higher floor or in the back. This room had it's own entrance which was very nice. The staff couldn't have been more helpful everyone from the valets to the desk staff were beyond nice and truly care that you are happy. The breakfast was delicious, quiche, homemade granola and yogurt with fresh fruit , cinnamon rolls, coffee cake anything you could think of. With a great outdoor seating area with a view of the water what more could you want. Location is great right in the center of woods hole and close to all sorts of restaurants, bars, Two coffee shops, shopping and the ferry to MV. We walked everywhere, we will return!

Room Tip: If you think street noise will bother you ask for a room in the back or top floor

Walking everywhere is one of the joys of living in this small pedestrian-friendly village and we are so glad you appreciated leaving the car keys behind and exploring both Woods Hole. With the ferry terminal right next door to us here, it is also really easy to use the Woods Hole Inn as your launching pad for day trips to the Vineyard, which many people enjoy and is also easily explored without your car using the bus system or taking local taxis. Thank you so much for this kind review, and we do hope to see you again soon.
