Taking the boat from Hyannis to Nantucket is a great way to begin or end your vacation! I see no reason to take the high speed ferry - the regular ferry is part of the experience! The boat is spotlessly clean, the crew is friendly and helpful. Just sit back and unwind - Fun!

We took the ferry both to and from the vineyard. It was a great trip both ways. Was a bit rocky on the way back but such is life on the water. Kids enjoyed the free wifi but hubby and I cherished the view. Oh and of course the snack bar was a hit with my never - ending eaters.

Is there any way not to be excited when you arrive at Woods Hole and see the ferry that will convey you to Martha's Vineyard? I doubt it. Even twenty five years after my first visit, I felt my heart pounding with happiness and anticipation as we purchased our tickets (8 bucks to walk on) and watched the tourists milling about with their dogs and luggage and kids. You can buy refreshments right near the ticket booth or, as we did, spend the hour waiting for the ferry at a very nearby watering hole, eating lobster tacos. A great start to a summer holiday!

We picked the Steamship Authority out of Woods Hole to get us to Martha's Vineyard because it was the cheapest and quickest way to get us there. It was a beautiful day and we had no complaints. Air conditioning and food inside or stay outside on one of the benches to enjoy the weather. The whole operation ran like a well oiled machine. Would definitely travel this way again!

For passengers only, its a no hassle trip. Dealing with cars and parking may be an issue. We were dropped off at the terminal walked up to a no-line ticket window and purchased two round trip tickets in less time that it is taking me to type this.

Boarding went smoothly and quickly, we were met on the Vineyard by a friend and walked up to his place. Return trip, just as easy get in a brief line and walk on. Walked off in Woods Hole.

The weather was nice on both trips so we sat outside. Lots of people with dogs to watch walking on the decks! Fun!.
