I have never written a bad review before, however 6 of us dined at Phusion last Wednesday and all had terrible meals. When we arrived the restaurant was not busy and we were immediately seated. Our waitress was friendly and took our drink order. That was the good news, the wine was mediocre and took too long to be served. We ordered and 1 1/2 hours later we
were finally served. I ordered 2 starters, tempura asparagus which arrived cold and the stalk hadn't been trimmed but the sauce was tasty and calamari which was so tasteless rubber bands would have been a better choice. Our dinner companions ordered the "Phu burger", Jerk Chicken, salmon, and clam chowder . The Phu burger was way over cooked and the bun ice cold, the truffle fries were good. The rest of the meals were so bland that the requested salt and pepper did nothing to enhance the taste. My husband said his clam chowder was so gluey he could stand his spoon up and he found no clams in it, plus it had been microwaved.
When Phusion first opened we had many good meals. Then things started to slide and haven't dined there in a few years. Recently some friends said they enjoyed their last experience so we gave it another try. We will not return nor will our friends.
The service was so bad, we saw one man standing to try to get someone's attention and others walking to the bar begging for someone to take their credit card so they could leave. It appeared the proprietress was not even aware of how bad things were because she sat at the bar on the phone mostly.
This is too bad because the setting is beautiful and certainly Woods Hole needs a fine dining experience. Unfortunately Phusion is not the place.

Enjoy a deck view of Woods Hole harbor as well as the quaint draw bridge that is right at your outdoor table! Unique dishes and flavors that separate it from all the other fish restaurants on the Cape.

Food was ok but a bit pricey. They were not serving lobster rolls for dinner but our waiter talked to the chef and they made one special for my husband. We really appreciated that. However, some diners one table over lost their cell phone and wallet in the water. Apparently there are openings in the wooden planks and things can slip through. One of the employees told us it happens every day -- diners lose credit cards, wallets, phones, and more. Wouldn't you think they would fix the planks so this wouldn't happen?

This is typical informal harborside restaurant with picnic table seating on a long covered deck overlooking the channel which leads into the harbor at Woods Hole -- a great location. We went there for lunch on a sunny day in July -- high season on the Cape -- only because every other restaurant in the neighborhood was full. We hesitated because of the weird name. Lunch in this type of restaurant on the Cape in July is time for lobster roll or cheeseburger and fries, not for "fusion" much less "Phusion". We almost didn't go in after scrutinizing the menu posed outside, which read like a Saturday Night Live joke about pretentious restaurants.

Surprise: They serve a perfectly normal unadorned lobster role of the highest quality. And I just ignored the menu and asked for a cheeseburger and fries (not on the menu); this order was accepted without comment and the cheeseburger was outstanding. The service was great too.

So my advice to the owners of this restaurant is: Change the name and purge the menu of all the silly verbiage. Then you'll be just as busy as your competition!

Hamburger topped with lobster tail. Jerk chicken wings. Calamari with an unusual combination with olives, orange-marmalade sauce and cherry peppers. "Deconstructed" clam chowder. All yummy!
