Proctor Mansion Inn
Ranked #1 of 2 Wrentham B&B and Inns

We took the opportunity to stay at this Inn for a weekend family wedding at Lake Pearl and it was perfect. The property is magnificent with its antique appointments; it felt as though we were staying in a museum. The Innkeepers were friendly and accommodating; the breakfasts were superb. Thank you for a trip back in time and we will definitely return in the future.

Room Tip: If you need a quiet, dark room, request something in the back of the house.

Booked a room at this B&B with two twin beds. My son and I were going to the Brazil v. Portugal game and needed a place to stay. Got there and the owner mentioned that she had adjoining rooms with larger beds (I am 6 ft and son is 6 feet 4 inches) and at no extra charge. We needed to get up earlier than their normal breakfast hours. Christine whom I believe is the manager, offered to have coffee and juice ready for me. These folks are great and the accommodations are very good. Everything was super clean and comfortable.

Just the most delightful experience - why would you ever want to stay in a chain again! I have been truly spoilt over the week of my stay here. All and everyone have only one focus - to ensure you have undivided attention and delightful service experience with no pomposity and simple, genuine charm and compassion.
Extremely convenient location - not off the beaten track. Local amenities within walking distance.
Breakfast a perfect start to anyone's day.
I will be back, thank you.

Room Tip: They are all rather special - check to ensure en suite and how much closet space you want. Adjoining...

We stayed here after a concert at the Comcast center when we didn't want a long, late night drive home. (It is only 10 minutes from the venue.) We stayed in the "peach room", which had a king sized 4 poster bed. The furnishings were beautiful antiques, and the new bathroom was tastefully decorated to fit in. We got a tour from the owner, who described the history of how the home was a stop on the underground railroad and many other interesting facts. It was the kind of tour we have paid serious money for in places like Newport, Rhode Island. The breakfast was wonderful: fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit compote, homemade banana bread, and thin pancakes topped with more fresh local fruit. The staff were delightful and accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a real bed and breakfast experience instead of a chain hotel when selecting a place to stay.

We had a 5-star stay but I am acutely aware that many people will not rate this historic inn nearly so high. That is unfortunate but understandable. Not everyone likes history. And some folks downright frown on not having the latest and greatest flat screen TV or internet connection. If that is you, stay away from this beautiful work-in-progress historical house.

The owners, Brian and Dawn Fitzgerald, make no excuses for what they have. They happily share the story of how this project became theirs in 2004. Of the three stories, only the first two are in some state of habitability but the third floor will also be turned into guests rooms soon enough. When we were there Brian was working on tiling what was once a closet to make it into an en suite for that bedroom (pictures attached).

Some reviewers mentioned annoyance of other events. It is true the inn hosts weddings, business meetings (the local YMCA met for two days while we were there), musical performances and even a happy hour prior to concerts across the street in the town square. Brian & Dawn are working hard returning every dollar they earn back into the inn. If you tour some of the rooms on the 3rd floor, you will realize how far they have come, and how much farther they have to go.

Why I rate this a five star. We had a huge room, a king sized bed with luxurious bedding, an updated en suite bathroom, and the basic amenities (yes, a small flat screen and a wi-fi connection). As the only guests in the inn for two nights, we also have the personal attention of the host who stays in the inn and serves up freshly cooked breakfast. And we had the pleasure of being on Wrentham town square with its nearby general store (Cumberland Farms), a pizza joint and a dinner house with patio seating and music.

Being right off Route 495, within a couple miles of the Wrentham Outlet Mall, a hop, skip and a jump from Patriot Place, this was an ideal location for a number of reasons but most importantly, it was a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the real world.

I could go on and on but I will let my pictures do some of the talking. The staff at the Proctor Mansion is all about service. We got that service, they earned five stars.

Room Tip: Some rooms share bathrooms, ask what is available.

We stayed in the mint green room. The Mansion is still undergoing renovations and probably will be for years, can't imagine the money it will take to do a full restoration. The only thing stopping me from making this a 5 star rating, is the fact that there must be mold In the room we stayed in b/c I had an allergy/asthma attack overnight. Other than that, the room is beautiful. Such rich furnishings. Breakfast was phenomenal, on very elegant china. The detail in this house is truly amazing, hand-painted ceilings. Make sure you get a tour with Joan. She showed us the entire place. She is very hospitable, a great hostess. Will definitely recommend to others.

The house is amazing and we were very impressed with the way the owners are renovating but keeping the original integrity of the home. They just don't make houses like this anymore. The service was great! We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our room. (NOTE: there may be water stains etc on the ceiling don't be alarmed. They are renovating and you will find a nice note on the mantle explaining the stain.) Ask for a tour of the home, its such a neat building.
The only downside to our stay was the breakfast. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Just kinda "blah". Thankfully the friendliness of the staff and the beautiful house made up for the food. We hope to come again!
