“Oliver's Has Slipped Into Average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

There was a time when Oliver's was a place where you could get consistently very good food. Their duck was the best around. The time before this visit, the duck was dry and quite tasteless. Not sure what happened there, but we have shied away since then.

We dined out with friends the other night (they chose the restaurant) and although the service was good, the food was about average. Some people in our party had the Lobster Pie, an old recipe from the Cape Half house days. They all said it tasted very good, but there were an awful lot of crumb topping in the dish, rather than lobster for the price. One person in our party left most of their salad, so I'm not sure what was going on there.

I had the smothered burrito and it tasted just fine, but I have to agree with some of the other contributors, it just doesn't seem the same.

Maybe a big menu change is in order, not sure, but Oliver's is just another restaurant now. Too bad, a few years back it was a must and would have rated an "Excellent".

“Not the same as it was........”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

Oliver's used to be a great place to get a great meal. My last two/three visits would now rate it as average at best. The menu is limited and stale, definitely needs an update. Tonight's meal, broiled seafood platter, used a breaded stuffing on the shrimp that was dry and tasteless. It's time to move into 2014...

“Not worth your time”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

Went there tonight, was truly disappointed. It was recommended to us by some locals. Not impressed at all. Food was tasteless, had salmon planck, prime rib, spring rolls... so not even worth mentioning, bland, boring. It reminded us of a very old peoples place with bland tasteless food. Not one thing stood out here. Service was pretty unremarkable, but it is not why I wrote the review. There are several restaurants in this area that deserve your time and money, this is not one of them. Save your money and move drive past this place.
The tavern looks like a happening spot with a large bar and several booths, this would have probably been a OK place to get a drink, but not a meal.

“Service with an attitude”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

We went on Sunday August 8, later in the evening for drinks and appetizers. When we sat down the waitress informed us she had just taken 3 dinner orders and it would be a while, we said ok. After 5 minuets or so another waitress came and took our drink order, the 1st waitress came back and said " did she just take your order". We felt like we had done something wrong. The appetizers where GREAT. When I ordered my second drink it tasted different from the first, I told the waitress and she said I should order something different, that the new batch was all going to taste like that. WHAT! The food was good the first round of drinks where good but the service was questionable.
