I love fishing on the Pere Marquette and the PM Lodge guides and fly shop do their very best to make it a good experience and I would recommend it without hesitation.

The lodge itself could do with a little upgrading. Some of the rooms are a little tired - for example, carpets could do with a clean or replacement (in fact a hard floor surface would be better as most guests seem to enter wearing boots), and it seems a bit damp. But it was clean enough.

A room to hang and dry waders and boots would be useful. You find these at some lodges.

Breakfast (self service) is a bit hit and miss depending on whether someone remembers to check and buy more bread, juice and milk! We got them at the gas station though! Its fishing lodge, not a five star hotel, so we didnt get uptight about it.

Despite the accommodation needing a bit of attention I love PM Lodge. For fishing. its great.

Room Tip: Its quite a climb upstairs with your luggage so if you have mobility problems or a bad back ask for downstairs.

I took my 14 and 12 year old boys on their first real fly fishing trip through a package at our local Orvis store. I really wasn't sure what to expect however we ended up having a fantastic experience. We started the night we arrived with some coaching on tying knots and rigging led by Frank Willetts. We spent the next day wading and the following day on a boat. Overall the boys hooked into about 16 fish and landed some nice salmon and a couple steelhead. I have to say the steelhead I caught was my first and it was really something special. Frank helped to create some terrific memories for my boys - he took them on his boat and was really really good with them. I can't thank him enough for the experience. The boys can't wait to go back.

The accomodations worked very well (we stayed at the lodge) breakfast provided as well as lunch both days. Everyone there seems to love their job and we will definetly be back. Thanks for a great time.

Didn't stay at the lodge. Review is about the fishing experience October 2. 1st time for salmon. Definitely will try again. Frank guided us was patient with my initial efforts & did a great job teaching how to handle a salmon rod properly. By sun-up putting the rig within feet of preferred placement became routine. Probably over 20 hits and exciting runs. Landed 3. All aspects, experience, shop, guide & weather were spectacular.
Shop staff had 7 of us checked in, licensed, outfitted and in the boats on the water within 30 minutes.
Pushed off in the dark @ 6:30, chilly mist on the water, lots of stars, sliver of a crescent moon, blue herons along the banks, salmon crashing all around, cloudless sky, no wind all day, trees changing, 68-72 degrees once the sun got high. Landed at 4 PM. Stopped at the shop to settle-up & catch up with the group for about 30 minutes. On the road before 5 PM, back in Bloomfield before 8.

I have been fishing the PM River for years and always stay at the lodge and fish with one of their guides. The lodge is located on the river and the guides always teach us something new to help land fish. Friendly guys at the fly shop. Overall it's a true fishing experience with the guides, lodge and flyshop all at the same location. I plan on bringing a group of 10 clients next year for a group fishing adventure. The lodge is set up for great for corporate groups and owner Frank will do what it takes to make sure the group has everything they need to enjoy their trip.

took a guided trip one day. over dozen fish hooked, brought in 3.
Learned a ton from guides, and from employees in the fly shop.
The folks at the fly shop provide answers and help setup the equipment
to make your fishing most enjoyable.

Every time we go, we listened to their advice, and we always get fish.

The lodge itself is perfect. The breakfast area always has a snack available, 24x7. Self served kitchen.. perfect place to getaway from Mrs and the kids
