I cannot say enough good things about Wolf Lake Motel and Lodge / Resort. It has something to offer everyone. It's perfect for adults only or families with children of any age. There are a variety of room choices to suit what best fits your needs. We take a two bedroom unit right off the lake and have a full bath and kitchen with seating for four and adjoining living room space with coach / sofa bed. The rooms are stocked with the basic necessities and have everything you will need. The property has a beautiful small beach and the water in the lake is crystal clear and very shallow. It doesn't get any better for our small children (under 4' tall) who can walk out over 30 feet into the lake on a soft sandy bottom and swim or float on their inflatable's in this very safe environment. Our teenager keeps a watchful eye on her younger siblings while "texting and working " on her tan on one of the guest provided beach lounge chairs.

When not swimming in the lake with our kids or lounging on our inflatable's, my wife and I take their beach chairs (provided with every unit) and sit right in the water reading our novels and sipping our favorite ice cold refreshment. When the kids finally come out the water, they build their sand castles of the day or fly their kites. When they tire of those activities, it's off the to the swing set with attached playhouse and sliding board for more fun. We also bring the bicycles for a ride around the lake.

Outside your unit is a large common grassy area with big 100 year old trees nestled in between that provide an abundant amount of shade for the picnic tables and grills that are provided for every room. It's a great gathering space for dining and socializing with your family members. It is here that you and your children will also meet your vacationing lodge neighbors. It's great when the kids find somebody their own age and can hang out and have fun together.

In the early evening hours after dinner most of this community of lake lovers, fishing folk and ATV'ers on holiday will come together and gather around the big fire pit for guests use. You will find yourself in fascinating conversations about everything and anything including the world of ATVs and the local trails, the fishing and the horseback riding that is available within a mile of the property. You can enjoy this conversation while toasting marshmallows over the open flames of the fire pit. We do S'mores with the kids (placing a toasted marshmallow on a slice of chocolate and placed between two graham crackers). Others will be playing outdoor / backyard games, a favorite card or board game or just enjoying the view and late night sunset. As the sun begins to set I take the kids fishing off their long extended boat dock (boats are also available for rental). And the fish are biting in the early morning too. For the serious fisherman there is a fish cleaning station located up closer to the office area.

There is a country store across the street for all your immediate needs and the kids can all hold hands and walk across the road for a treat. The nearby town of Baldwin (7 miles) has the grocery store, restaurant, DQ and Pizza & Sub shops etc if you need a change of pace. And if you happen to have a rainy day, you can keep everyone entertained with either the gazillion TV satellite package channels or bring along those deck of cards and a couple of your favorite board games.

The lodge prices are very reasonable and the staff is very professional, friendly and accommodating. If you have any questions, issues or concerns - there isn't ANYTHING any of them (Tim, Adam, Dave, Sue, JoJo, Renee) wouldn't do to expeditiously resolve it. They all love what they do and want to help out so you have a full up fun vacation experience. Wolf Lake offers my family and I a year after year experience where in the decades to come we will fondly remember that one special time of year where we got away from it all, truly relaxed and enjoyed ourselves as a family. It's the charm and atmosphere that will keep us coming back for many years to come.

Just returned from our 5th year in a row of ATV/dirtbiking vacations at WLR. We have stayed in every type of accomodation they have from the motel to the lakefront cabins and all( although cramped and no-frills) have been clean and well kept.
Very pet friendly and go the extra mile to accomodate reasonable requests or to make things right if there is something in your room that requires attention. They have the perfect mix of rules to keep everyone having fun and staying safe, and a relaxed atmosphere/attitude.
The lake is so clean and on the shallow side so it has always been quite warm and wonderful for swimming during our mid-June visits.
Be aware that there is a small public park that borders one side of the property at the lakefront and there can be noise at times due to the people using this area. This was barely an issue any of the times we stayed. Otherwise the atmosphere lakefront is peaceful and very nice. We enjoy the firepit at night.
THe riding trails are very accessible-you do have to cross a main highway to access them, but this is not a problem at all.
THis year we brought our bicycles and enjoyed evening rides around the lake(4 miles around).
There is no A/C, but we bring our own window fans , and if you are in the lakefront cabins there is always a nice breeze down there.
This is a great place for extended families to come and return year after year. Book early .
You will not be disappointed .

Room Tip: 2 bedroom lakefront cabins are small, more conducive to a family with small children. The beds are doubles . Our family with 2 big teenage boys felt cramped at night time-even with using the pullout sofa for one of them.

Five years running and still my favorite place for an ATV vacation. Management and staff always friendly and helpful. Trail access right outside the door.

Had our family re-unions here for 3 years. Lots of fun, enjoyed the bonfires on the lake. the rooms are small; but well kept, nice and clean. We brought along some swimming noodles to wrap around the television base as television is suspended sort of like they do in hospitals, but it's easy to bump your head getting to the restroom or corner bed. Actually stayed in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
