“Great Getaway”
Reviewed 3 May 2013

Had a very nice time riding the trails. Just 1 other person staying at the motel, so everything was nice and quite. Has a small kitchenette, which is perfect size to fix your own meals. Country store is across the road and it also has a gas station to fill up your ATVs. Trails are sandy, so it was a new experience for us. If you want to eat out there is a restaraunt just down the road called Club 57. In Baldwin there is a great ice cream place called Jones Ice cream. A nice small town atmosphere. There are places to stop along the trail for gas and snacks. We saw deer and wild turkey on the trails, so don't forget your camera. We were there at the end of April, 2013. Only saw 2 other people on the trails. Miles and miles of trail system to ride. You won't be sorry you stayed here. Owner and his employees are super nice, and will explain the trail map and give you ideas where the best places are to stop off. All in all, we had a very relaxing time here. Hope to return again someday.

As always we had a great time. The room is always clean, and we love the kitchenette with the refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. This allows us to eat on our own schedule, and bring our own food saving us $$$. We always come to Wolf Lake when there is snow to get in some great riding. The Blacksmith Bayou is only 30 miles from the motel, the Irons Groomers do a great job keeping the trails flat and smooth. The location is great with a gas station, and small store across the street. The trails in the region are rarely over-crowded with snowmobile traffic unlike other areas.

My wife and I just returned home from a long weekend at Wolf Lake Motel in Baldwin, MI. After 2 previous reservations had to be cancelled because of mother nature we finally made it. The owner Tim is a snowmobiler and he will give you honest info regarding weather forecasts and trail conditions. The units are older, but are constantly being improved. We have visited in the past and noticed improvements from year to year. The area is well known for all season recreation and Tim rents snowmobiles as well as summer toys. Reasonable rates. Fuel and supplies right across the road. Everything you need in one spot.

Room Tip: Get a room down by the lake

Stayed at the resort now that there is finally snow! Rooms was very clean and had a kitchen with dishes so we could make our breakfast and then hit the trails. (Sled right from your front door, no need to trailer!) I rented the Arctic Cat z 570 and boy was it fun! The manager was very helpful and sent us on some great trails. What a blast. Can't wait to return with the family to rent four wheelers this summer.

Room Tip: If you have a big group, I heard the manager talking about 'the bunk house.' Two bedrooms wi...

I cannot say enough good things about Wolf Lake Motel and Lodge / Resort. It has something to offer everyone. It's perfect for adults only or families with children of any age. There are a variety of room choices to suit what best fits your needs. We take a two bedroom unit right off the lake and have a full bath and kitchen with seating for four and adjoining living room space with coach / sofa bed. The rooms are stocked with the basic necessities and have everything you will need. The property has a beautiful small beach and the water in the lake is crystal clear and very shallow. It doesn't get any better for our small children (under 4' tall) who can walk out over 30 feet into the lake on a soft sandy bottom and swim or float on their inflatable's in this very safe environment. Our teenager keeps a watchful eye on her younger siblings while "texting and working " on her tan on one of the guest provided beach lounge chairs.

When not swimming in the lake with our kids or lounging on our inflatable's, my wife and I take their beach chairs (provided with every unit) and sit right in the water reading our novels and sipping our favorite ice cold refreshment. When the kids finally come out the water, they build their sand castles of the day or fly their kites. When they tire of those activities, it's off the to the swing set with attached playhouse and sliding board for more fun. We also bring the bicycles for a ride around the lake.

Outside your unit is a large common grassy area with big 100 year old trees nestled in between that provide an abundant amount of shade for the picnic tables and grills that are provided for every room. It's a great gathering space for dining and socializing with your family members. It is here that you and your children will also meet your vacationing lodge neighbors. It's great when the kids find somebody their own age and can hang out and have fun together.

In the early evening hours after dinner most of this community of lake lovers, fishing folk and ATV'ers on holiday will come together and gather around the big fire pit for guests use. You will find yourself in fascinating conversations about everything and anything including the world of ATVs and the local trails, the fishing and the horseback riding that is available within a mile of the property. You can enjoy this conversation while toasting marshmallows over the open flames of the fire pit. We do S'mores with the kids (placing a toasted marshmallow on a slice of chocolate and placed between two graham crackers). Others will be playing outdoor / backyard games, a favorite card or board game or just enjoying the view and late night sunset. As the sun begins to set I take the kids fishing off their long extended boat dock (boats are also available for rental). And the fish are biting in the early morning too. For the serious fisherman there is a fish cleaning station located up closer to the office area.

There is a country store across the street for all your immediate needs and the kids can all hold hands and walk across the road for a treat. The nearby town of Baldwin (7 miles) has the grocery store, restaurant, DQ and Pizza & Sub shops etc if you need a change of pace. And if you happen to have a rainy day, you can keep everyone entertained with either the gazillion TV satellite package channels or bring along those deck of cards and a couple of your favorite board games.

The lodge prices are very reasonable and the staff is very professional, friendly and accommodating. If you have any questions, issues or concerns - there isn't ANYTHING any of them (Tim, Adam, Dave, Sue, JoJo, Renee) wouldn't do to expeditiously resolve it. They all love what they do and want to help out so you have a full up fun vacation experience. Wolf Lake offers my family and I a year after year experience where in the decades to come we will fondly remember that one special time of year where we got away from it all, truly relaxed and enjoyed ourselves as a family. It's the charm and atmosphere that will keep us coming back for many years to come.
