This place is part catering, part eating. I prefer the eating part.
Lots of interesting food is in the display case, including Italian, Mediterranean food, and local specialties. (By "local," I mean what people in Birmingham and Bloomfield that eat at restaurants tend to like. It would be interesting to know what "indigenous Bloomfield" food would be, and it probably wouldn't be as good as this!) Also, very good desserts, my favorite being a big, big walnut apple pie.
You don't get fancy service here; in fact, you don't get much service at all. It also isn't cheap; you can easily pay $6 for a bowl of rice here (although it would probably be Quinoa or wild rice with exotic mushrooms in it.) My excellent rating has to do with excellent food. Not a good place if you are hungry and need to feed a group on a budget.
