“Great Family Vacation”
Reviewed 24 July 2013 via mobile

Our family of 7 stayed from July 19-22 at the Boyne Mountain Grand Lodge & Spa in 2 co-joined Innsbruck rooms. Beautiful rooms are updated & very clean with a pretty rustic decor. The king bedroom has a couch & seating area, a balcony, a fireplace & flat screen TV. A good size bureau, nice closet & linen closet. A bar area with fridge, microwave, coffee brewer, sink, silverware, cups, wine glasses, bowls & plates. Perfect for our family.
The bathroom has a huge soaking tub & vanity. The other room had 2 queen beds, a tv, wet bar, fridge & sink. The bathroom was a nice size with vanity & shower. Maid service was excellent.
We were on the 1st floor very close to the pool which was a huge bonus as we spent everyday there! The beautiful pool was 90 degrees everyday so it was perfect on cooler mornings/evenings. there are 2 hot tubs which we enjoyed too. Te pool goes from 3ft inside to 4.5 at it's deepest. The abundance of seating, lounge chairs & towels is excellent. There is drink service at the pool too. Try a piña colada!
We also utilized the various activities they offered for the family both free & at a cost. Magic show was fun & the kids loved makin s'mores nightly. They participated in outdoor movie night & story time with cookies & milk. We took a ride up the mountain on the chair lift which is free to guests. We played with the adventure equipment (balls frisbee a ect) a lot of fun outdoor playing with the kids! The various shops & restaurants are great! They even have gluten free pizza!!! They serve Starbucks coffee in Das Cafe which is a huge plus in my book!! I heard the spa is excellent from other family guests although I didn't utilize their services. The fitness room also is great, all the equipment you need!
I hope we can come back some day

This is a great place to be in summer with your kids - lot of activity going on - lot of open space to play and chill out. food is good in all restaurants but everything closes by 10pm. Rooms are old fashioned and a bit worn out. the best thing is the spa! I loved the Zen trilogy massage.

Let me start out by being very clear, we stayed at the Edelweiss block of rooms, not the main building. That being said, I expected a lot more for $150+ a night. If the resort charged a more appropriate rate, I would have been more likely to do more activities.

The room itself was more of what you'd expect at a Super 8 or Motel 6. Although large, it is in dire need of updating. The walls had chipped paint, the bathroom had cracked tile, the cranks to open the windows were broken, the fluorescent light buzzed loudly, and the TV was an old 32" tube type with only a fraction of the channels advertised on the brochure in the room. The beds were advertised as queen sized, but actually were double beds. Walls were paper thin, nothing like hearing your neighbor relieve himself at night and people walking up/down stairs (which were 2 rooms away).

Activities wise, we did have a good relaxing time. The water park and pool was fun, and there were always a plentiful amount of towels and space available to spread out in. Food was expensive, but that was also expected.

One other interesting thing, when we signed up for the horseback riding, the staff at the Adventure Center asked if we could do an earlier ride. This wasn't a problem for us, but then one of the girls told us that the riding instructor would be angry if she had to stay and do a late ride for just us. I know it was a slow week, but that was uncalled for. Her inconvenience is not my problem.

Overall, we did have a good time, but probably will not return. There's too much else to see in the area to want to come back.

I actually had a wedding at the Boyne Mountain Resort 2 summers ago. The whole weekend was a blast. The room was huge, especially for just the 2 of us. It had a fridge, microwave and even came with real plates. The bed was super comfy, although I think it was only a full and we thought it was going to be a queen. It's definitely worth the extra money to stay in the mountain grand lodge as opposed to the clock tower. Some of our family stayed there and they weren't thrilled with the rooms. The grounds are beautiful. They resort has land down by the lake and there is a restaurant there which is a nice touch. My boyfriend and I got a deep tissue couples massage at the spa which was fabulous! And FYI-if you get any spa service, even a mani/pedi you have access to the spa all day including the steam room and sauna. The only thing I can say bad about this place was there seemed to be limited food/dining choices. In the mountain grand lodge I think there is only one place open for breakfast, which was fine but after a few days you get tired of the same thing. I did like the fact that there is a pizza place on the grounds that delivers late. I would definitely go back!

Room Tip: Stay in the Mountain grand lodge and if possible get the second floor, I think the rooms were bigger...

My friend and I went to play a round of golf at Boyne Mountain Resort. That was Thursday, June 20. We had a nice older unit, one that is used by skiers in the winter with the chair lift going right by our hotel building. Rides up and down the lift are free in the late afternoons. The pool area is a brief walk from our building and the hot tub was very nice. Large and hot. Our golf outing was great. Also, in the evening you can catch a shuttle to the nearby casino in the beautiful city of Petoskey. If you are a golfer and wish to try this place, look for one of their many golf packages.

Room Tip: Ask to be in the main buidling.

We recently spent 3 nights here in one of the mountain cabins. The cabin was excellent in a quiet area with a hot tub. There were 2 beds/2 baths (one has one queen bed, the other has two queen beds) on the lower level/basement with a loft bedroom (king) and bath as well - not the perfect scenario for 2 families with kids that we had, but we made it work. There is also a pull out sofa but its right out in the open so not really meant for sleeping if anyone else is up. This is a large resort property and our cabin was about a mile from the main lodge and amenities but only about 2 blocks from Deer Lake. The lake was awesome with a nice sand beach, tiki bar, and complimentary paddle boats, kayaking, paddle boards, lawn games and sand toys. Our kids had a ball. The main resort has multiple restaurants, 2 pools and the indoor water park. They do bonfires and outdoor movies as well. Also a nice little shopping area, chair lift rides, zip lining, etc. In short, there are a TON of things to do here. Nearby Boyne City has a cute downtown area, a large lake, excellent restaurants. Overall we were very impressed with the resort - much more than we expected.

What a beautiful setting! Took all the family, including 8 grandkids to the Deer Lake beach! Were met by 2 of the best employees I've met in a long time, Jonathan and Natalie! They provided more than we could even do for activities! A great place to do lots of water activities, etc.! All in all, this place makes for a fantastic summer vacation destination.
