We stayed here in August 2013 for a wedding. The newer part of the resort is pretty, but the view is all you'll get for the price - customer service is mediocre at BEST. When we arrived for check-in, we were told that our room wasn't ready yet. We waited an HOUR in the lobby (after the available standard check-in time) just to get the key to our room. This was with very little apology or explanation from the staff, more of just a "sorry - that's how it is" attitude. The room itself was small, musty, and had a partially melted hair dryer hanging in the bathroom. We had to call 3 times to request a new one, and no one ever showed up. After the wedding itself, we came back a little early (and hungry!) and decided to order from the resort restaurant. We called an hour before close - no one picked up. We finally decided to walk down to order in person about 40 minutes to close, when we passed the side window we saw a young lady standing inside. By the time we reached the door she had shut off the lights and hidden or left (door unlocked) - again, this was 40 minutes to close. We went back to our room hungry, and annoyed. The general attitude we received from the staff was "you're on your own", and any additional help requested was met with irritation but no action. Maybe it is better in the winter, but husband and I still talk about how bad the experience was to this day! We won't ever go back.

Summary: Went to Boyne for a "Buddies Golf Trip" over Memorial Day Weekend. We had planned to golf the Alpine Course and Bay Harbor. We were very disappointed to say the least.

Lodging: Facility was decent (we stayed at the Clock Tower Lodge), price reflected quality. Beds were comfy and clean. Bathrooms were on the smaller side but functional. B

Staff: Very friendly and helpful. Resort shuttle was on-time and very responsive. A

Food and Beverage: We teed off on the Alpine course at 4pm on Saturday thinking we would grab some beers and snacks from the cart girl (which we were told would be out there). We didnt see one until hole 5 and her shift was ending so she only would take cash. She said she would tell the other girl were we were and wanted food/drink. Didnt see the other girl until hole 14 who was chatting with the ranger. She didnt seem to be doing her job. D

After the round we ate at "Everitts" the resort restaurant. The steak there was horrendous. It came out grey with what was supposed to be some sort of demi glace but instead was this watery sauce with under cooked shallots in it. I took one bite and refused to eat it. The others in the party order burgers and ribs. I was told the burgers were "okay" and the ribs were dry and chewy. F

The Bay Harbor experience was the worst. No Breakfast available, hot dog stand was not operational, no cart girl to be seen. Staff made us feel out of place and rushed us at the turn (we turned 5min after out scheduled time), said we didn't have time to get food, yet no cart girl on the course?? F

Conclusion: Whoever runs the Food/Beverage needs to do a better job. This was Memorial Day Weekend. Everything should be fully stocked and operational. Resort restaurant food was awful. If you stay, don't eat on site though there arent too many local restaurants to choose from.

We have too many good things to talk about Boyne. Though it is steeply priced, it is worth the amount.

We went on a ski vacation in March. There was lots to do and their snow tubing and zip lines have to be one of the best in mid-west.The staff was friendly, the lady at the reception happily changed our room to one with a better view.

Only issue :

Wish the breakfast had more variety.

Room Tip: Ask them for the mountain facing room near the ending of the twin zip lining...

We spent 4 days here. The weather wasn't our best friend - some rain leading to slushy conditions - but there is a lot to do here and lots of friends also visiting so everyone had great fun. The terrain park was great, not all the downhill runs were open, but the skiing was still great.

Stayed at the Hotel / Main Lodge for a 4 day ski trip.

The Good:
-Nice property layout. Rooms are close and a short walk to the Water Park, lift ticket desk, ski rentals and ski lifts. You can even get to the Water Park within the hotel lobby and not have to walk outside.
-Everett's had a good breakfast buffet
-Story telling and cookies for the kids
-Great ski instructors for my 5 and 7 year old first-timers (and myself)
-Nice ski trails for all levels
-Check-out was a breeze except for the missing rewards (see below)
-The open air restaurants near the ski lifts in the "Village". Just nice to hang outside with some beers after and in-between skiing and do some people-watching.

The OK:
-Everett's lunch and dinner were just OK
-Cafeteria in the ski rental building has OK food - think burgers, fries, pizza
-Trophy Room pizza: Food was good but the service was absent. Order a couple of pitchers of beer first and relax as your food will take some time.
-A little pricey for the room but when I checked rates after December, the actually higher. Would not pay $400+ for a room with 2 Queen beds.

The Bad:
-A bit disorganized at the check in. Took about 30 mins and it wasn't crowded. They never credited by Boyne Rewards for the stay and 3 months later, I'm still trying to get them to figure it out.
-Slow service at all the restaurants with the exception of Everett's at breakfast

Room Tip: Try to get a view of the mountain and not the parking lot. Further from the elevator the better. Y...

We stayed over New Years in the Clock Tower Lodge. Room was okay, bathroom was borderline, could hardly get in and then could hardly close the door, and we are slender people. Had the family buffet for NY Eve. I made the kids do it right, taking course by course. That made it a great deal, we ate and drank a lot and spent about two hours there having great conversations about 2013. The ice skating is not really maintained- good luck finding a pair of skates if you don't have your own, but the tubing was great fun. Good skiing for our 9, 11, and 12 year old experienced skiers. Overall we had a great time, but very pricey for Michigan skiing. I guess it was holiday rates.
