We were there for a weekend stay at the same time a group was there. Noise disturbed many of our party most of the night (e.g., 2-3AM). There's nothing new or interesting about the place, although the waterfront location is ok. "Breakfast" is basic and barely adequate. My room was reasonably clean.

Spacious, clean room with 2 queen beds (room 178) offering nice view of the lake. Sliding glass door had a screen so that you could enjoy the refreshing lake breeze. Bed mattress very firm (no pillowtop). The bath towels were very thin and rough. Not many people stayed here while we were there but the rooms on each side of us were occupied our first night and we couldn't hear any noise from either room. The pool water was clean and warm. Breakfasts was LOUSY. I would stay here again because I like the view of the lake. But I'd only stay in a Lakeside room. I do think the price we paid for the room was too high.

Room Tip: stay in a lakeside room

The only reason I'm even giving 2 stars is because the staff were super friendly and helpful and I would hate for anyone to lose a job because the owners of this resort do not invest in some refurbishment. However, anyone who gives this place more than 2 stars must regularly crash in their mom's basement or a homeless shelter or watch a lot of porn from the 1970s. It is really too bad because this resort looks like it was really cool back in the 1960s (which was probably the last time a health inspector came to visit).

I am a sucker for all things retro, so I was actually looking forward to staying there. However, the rooms were dated and disgusting (we had 3 total and they were all nasty). I wouldn't let anyone walk in the room barefooted because the carpet was so filthy and even missing in places. There were weird stains on the walls and ceiling. None of the locks worked properly, which made me even crazier because our room opened to the indoor pool and we had 6 kids in our group (the pool room was extra, by the way). We had to barricade that door with luggage so our toddler wouldn't wander out and into the pool.

The pool, by the way, should be condemned. The water was clean, I'll give it that, but there were literally HOLES in the pool where old light fixtures had been. I can't imagine that is very safe. One of the large windows going out to the lake from the pool was shattered and held together with tape. These are just examples of how poorly kept this "resort" is. It wouldn't take long to come up with a dozen other examples, but I think you get the picture.

Also, I'm shocked that the resort isn't quite a bit nicer, given what we paid ($110/night). Unless there is a major overhaul at that resort (as in "bulldozed and completely rebuilt", it will be referred to as the "Cadillac Sand Flea Motel" in our family for years to come.

We stayed at this resort this past weekend with a large group. What an amazing resort, and such excellent service! They were so accomodating, and they made the stay extremely pleasant. The pool area was very large and excellent for all to enjoy. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious. They were very nice, and we couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much for everything, we will be back!!

This was a surprise birthday getaway and from the name of the place I expected it to be a nicer place than what it was. Some of the towels were threadbare and the sink in the bathroom was rust stained, however, there was lots of hot water. We weren't informed at check-in as to where anything was located or even if the restaurant was open-it was not when we checked in. High priced for what it is, have stayed at much nicer small hotels for much less money. They need to change the name.

If you are looking to be pampered or swept away in luxury go elsewhere. Is that even possible in Cadillac? This place was just fine for us, but it was old and worn (not dirty).. We were with a big family group and it served us well. McDonald's in the parking lot and close to everything. Great beach area. Nice that it's an old school motor lodge so you can literally back up to the door and unload/load.

We stay at the Sands whenever we come up to Cadillac to visit our extended families
We get a room on the pool and when the grandkids come we have a wonderful time playing in the pool. Later we can have a great dinner in the restaurant which offers some very good choices on the menu.
The Sand Bar is also a fun spot for the older kids on Sat. Night
