After a round of golf at the Old Course we were looking for a late breakfast. Found it at the Cedar Rustic, Hash a little salty, toast excellent. One of our group has the Pea soup which he claimed was very good.i

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 13 September 2012

We tried this off-the-beaten-path restaurant for dinner. We had heard good things about their breakfasts and lunches and that their prices were reasonable. Two couples went and all agreed this is a place we will return to for dinner. We have second homes in the area and are familiar with most restaurants in and around Leelanau County. All four of us ordered seafood--trout and salmon dinners. We thought our meals were prepared well and tasted really good. My trout was exceptional. We were lucky to visit when the weather was appropriate for outdoor seating and enjoyed the courtyard environment. Our waitress and the chef are the owners and their parents run the winery next door, we discovered. We saw young families, local people, older people--all varieties of people dressed mostly very casual--all there enjoying the caring and attentive service we enjoyed. I think this restaurant is at the top of the list in the county for high value and moderately priced dinners.

“Fabulous food and very reasonable prices”
Reviewed 24 August 2012

We recently spent a week camping on Lake Leelanau and ate at Cedar Rustic Inn on three different occasions. We kept coming back because the food, atmosphere and service was SO good. The food quality and taste were fabulous. Like eating in a 4 star dining room.

My husband loved the chicken marsala with gnocchi. The flavor of the sauce was unbelievable and the chicken was so soft, juicy and perfect. I had the fried chicken which I shared with my children - it fed us all perfectly.

Breakfast was also nice - yummy potatoes and omelets. Kids enjoyed the pancakes. Very simple and reasonable.

The fried perch on the kids menu was delicious, my son loved it. But it was a pretty small portion for the price. Other childrens items were also a bit small for the price, but all the food was good.

We ordered take out pizza one evening and it was ok. Not the best pizza and the pepperoni was in tiny chunks instead of slices. Not my favorite way to have pepperoni.

We would very much recommend this place. Staff was friendly and welcoming and attentive. Atmosphere is comfortable and very nice. But we didn't feel out of place in our shorts and sandals. It is one of the few places in this area of MI that didn't feel like a bar and where you could afford to take your family on a regular basis.

We went back and would go again.

“Great find”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

So surprised to find a fantastic restaurant in Cedar with reasonable prices. We both had the perch dinner with cole slaw and fries. Although the perch was fried it was very light and delicious. The cole slaw was the best we have had. Also, the apple cobbler cake was unbelieveable. Will return.

“Tasty fish in a quaint setting”
Reviewed 20 July 2012

The restaurant is located in the quaint village of Cedar, a short drive from Traverse City. It was nice to get away from the Cherry festival crowds for a while. The dining room is cozy and intimate, the service was attentive and friendly. We had walleye and perch which were fried in different styles and both were delicious. We had non-alcoholic beverages with dinner, but they have some nice wines and tap beers available. Overall, a pleasant experience.
