Room was clean and quite large.
Recently remodeled which was very well done.
Did not use the pool/hot tub but looked nice.

Quite even though it was next to the only main highway in the area. That could be due to the lack of night time traffic.
Staff and customer smoked just outside the entrance doors. No attempt was made to move away from the door. In fact I overheard one receptionist tell a custormer to go ahead and smoke just outside the door.
For the disabled, the front door has at least a 2 inch rise that would make it difficult for wheel chair users and those with walking challenges. The previous year when we made our reservation for the boat show, I had mentioned that problem and the minor cost to repair, however no repair was made when visited this year.
It has two floors but no elevator.

Room Tip: Reserve well ahead of the Hessel Boat Show weekend (second weekend of August), if you expect to get a room. If you are disabled, expect some difficulty getting into the building. I was told the building was made out of wood, rather then concrete, so select a room on the top floor, even though there are no elevators.

Thank you for staying with us! We are sorry you had some issues while you were here. There are designated area's outside each entrance for smoker's since the inside of the hotel is smoke free.
I will pass along to our staff not to smoke around guests entering and exiting the building.
Since our hotel was built the base of the front entrance door has been like that, it is not broken just the way it was built in. We do have a gentleman in a wheel chair who comes four days a week to do physical therapy in our pool and it is a wheel chair accessible entrance. We apologize if that was a problem for you . Our hotel was built without an elevator only stairs and if you do like it quiet the 2nd floor would be better.

We come to the U.P. for our family reunion in July. The other family members rent cabins for a week and we can only attend for a couple of days, so we book this hotel. We have been coming for years and the only thing that has changed is the name, lobby décor and I was told new mattresses. We had the pleasure of meeting the new owner at the grand opening during our stay. He said they plan to improve the property. We were there for 4 days, they only thing housekeeping provided was dumping our garbage and fresh towels. I don't expect our linens (thin, old) to be changed daily, but the room should be refreshed. They have a continental type breakfast daily.
The hotel is not cheap and I hope they improve with new ownership, wishing them the best!

Room Tip: The rooms are all the same. Some have Jacuzzis and they also offer rooms with a refrigerator.

We were desperate for a place to stay. We saw the sign that indicated that the Inn had recently been remodeled, so we gave it a go. It was expensive and was desperately in need of a remodel. The room smelled stale and even though clean, it was not inviting. They did say that they had just purchased new mattresses, but it looked they were made up with the same old bedspreads. It looked to me and my husband that the only part that was remodeled was the lobby.

While not cheap, the Inn is great. All the amenities you could want; clean, and the staff is cordial, very helpful and friendly. No worries with this place, book and feel secure that you won't be dissappointed.

Hi Sidney,

Thank you for taking the time to review Cedarville Lodge on TripAdvisor. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, and we hope to see you again! I do have a quick question regarding the review, however. Why did you speak so highly, yet rate us so lowly on the scale?

My wife and I have stayed at The Cedarville Inn twice now. Overall, we have had decent experiences, but nothing to jump and cheer about. It's difficult to find really good accommodations in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (da U.P., eh?), but The Cedarville in generally provides your basics with a couple of nice extras.

The first time we stayed there we were very pleased. We had a basic room with a king-size bed that was nicer than most places we have stayed in Upper Michigan -- somewhat plain, but still very nice. The room was clean and didn't have any signs of wear. The bed wasn't very comfortable, but I have a hard time finding any hotel or motel with comfortable beds (we have a Sleep Number Bed at home). The second time, however, we were disappointed. We reserved a room with a hot tub in it, and the hot tub didn't work. We also noticed HUGE stains on the carpet and one of the chairs, a floor lamp that was damaged beyond repair, and furniture that appeared to be falling apart. To their credit, the staff reduced our room rate to that of a regular room, but we were disappointed nonetheless.

The Cedarville Inn has a nice indoor pool and jacuzzi, some vending machines, and in the lobby area they have free continental breakfast that is pretty much on par with other continental breakfasts you'd see at national chain hotels. The lobby and dining area is very nice, however, and the staff members were very friendly and helpful.

BOTTOM LINE: It's a bit of a crap-shoot as far as what you'll get for a room, but The Cedarville Inn is nice enough and the room rates are in line with the national hotel chains. We have family in Pickford, and we have found The Cedarville Inn to be the nicest place close to Pickford. You'd have to go to Sault Ste. Marie to find nicer accommodations. Again, nothing to jump and cheer about, but perfectly nice if you get a good room.
