“Absolutely Fantastic”
Reviewed 22 December 2013 for a stay in December 2013

My family and I stayed here and it was just wonderful. The cottage itself is so much better than even the lovely pictures show and the owners made sure that we were all well catered for, welcomed and looked after. From our first contact to our arrival and stay they couldn't do more for us but also respected our privacy and allowed us to enjoy the cottage and our own family time. The cottage itself was well maintained, had everything that we needed and more and allowed us to easily explore London and Windsor as well as see friends in Reading, Henley and Wokingham. The village atmosphere of Waltham St Lawrence was a delight, parking and driving home each night was easy and the log fire and Wi Fi was a welcome addition yo what was a lovely holiday. We had a great time here and will certainly be back when we next visit from Australia.

Liked best: The decorations and bathrooms. The Christmas Tree and mulled wine on arrival was a lovely touch. The Wi Fi was quick and easy to use.
Liked least: My 'boys' would have liked sky TV to watch the football but we knew this wasn't available so this was our choice.

We needed a base to visit friends and family and found this property via tripadvisor. The cottage is very well specified with top level appliances. We have stayed at 5* hotels below this standard. There was plenty of space with a large double bedroom and a smaller room with two singles. There are two separate bathrooms, although one (a wetroom) is downstairs. The only minor downside we could find was that the skylight in the smaller bedroom did not have a blind, so this could be an issue during the summer mornings. Although we don't have much experience of self catering it was good to see that coffee, tea, sugar etc were provided. The owners were on hand for questions and very helpful. The location is also great. We originally came from the area, but for someone from outside the UK this is an opportunity to stay at the heart of a picture postcard English village. Overall a great place to stay. We will be back.

We stayed here with our two children in June, while visiting family in the UK. It is a really lovely cottage, in a beautiful location. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The owners Sue and Steve were very helpful. We look forward to our next visit.

“What a delightful holiday home kitted out to a high standard with clean and modern furnishings.”

We booked to stay here based on the photos of the cottage on the Trip advisor website and I can honestly say we were not let down by the real thing! The cottage/barn conversion is excellent! Set in a delightful village with the local pub (The Bell) just over the road, literally!! The standard throughout the holiday home was of a high standard and being only recently completed by the owners still had the newness and freshness you would expect. From the kitchen, to the bathrooms to the lovely bedrooms this did not let us down. Great TV in the lounge, only noticed the Internet button on the remote on day 2!! The only criticism I have is being a barn conversion (and having stayed in 1 or 2 before) the bedrooms do get very warm as the heat rises into what would have been the loft area. We stayed in August so the temperatures were reasonably good (although not as hot as the heat wave of June thankfully) and we had 2 rather sticky nights sleep!! But as stated other barn conversions we have stayed in have been the same - its just a design issue and not reflection on the property itself. We ate at the Bell Hotel over the road and had an 'ok meal', we also booked into the nearby Sherlock Inn in Sherlock Row which was better and the pub itself was excellent being recently refurb'ed by its owners. Thanks to Sue and Steve again for a truly wonderful stay.

“Gorgeous little hideway cottage”

Myself and my wife stayed at The Wheelwrights for the week of Royal Ascot.
We wanted somewhere close but not in the centre of Ascot and with this place being only 9 miles away, this seemed perfect.
We found it on Tripadvisor and it looked perfect. I called Steve the owner and we agreed a price for the week.
He made it all very simple and is very easy to deal with.
When we arrived he was there to meet us and show us around.
It is a very old cottage with original beams but has recently been refurbished with quite a modern feel to it and it really works.
It has everything you would need and is totally self contained.
I would not hesitate in recomending this cottage and I fully untend to go back next year.

What a great place. Beautiful location, gorgeous decor, friendly and helpful owners. Would definitely recommend for everyone whatever your need. The house has everything you could possibly need and is home from home. Can not fault, even the church bells were a relaxing backdrop! The Bell In across the road is also a must.
