We generally try to visit Aloha State Park at least once a year. We went the weekend before the 4th of July this year. It was miserably hot this time around (90s and 100% humidity). In my last review, we commented on the lack of playground equipment for smaller children. They have since removed the slide and now the only thing remaining are two sets of swings for the entire campground. I wish that with all the open ground they have near the camp store they would install a proper playground area for families. Trails nearby are nice, water is nice, beach is rocky and and small but sand bottom once you get out a way. Bathrooms are still outdated and small considering the amount of sites (2 showers, 3-4 stalls). And during our stay...the bathrooms were filthy with mud, dirt, and water...very slippery too...they get cleaned once a day...probably need a few more checks on busy "full" camp weekends. The dump station/water filling was slow moving this time...water was just trickling out of the water filling station hose. They conveniently have wood for sale in the park at a comparable price per cord. Stay of the jetties...unless your Indiana Jones the path is not safe and a trap for turned ankles and rough falls. The camp store is great for forgotten items or small grocery items. They have donuts too and I heard pizza to but we have never had that. Sites are grassy...pay attention to notes when reserving. If it says wet or poor drainage expect water and mud. Otherwise, you cannot beat the Aloha sunsets...they are beautiful. We call Aloha the "old people's" campground...meaning older campers, or families with older children seem to enjoy it most. Our kids do well but there is certainly no parent down time on a bench while the kids play at a park type of opportunities. Bring your own entertainment...bean bag toss, ladder ball, bocce, bubbles, frisbee, etc. And if you have a boat...then, yes, this is the campground for you!
