This place is beautiful. So much detail and the location is perfect. Walk the cute downtown, have dinner at the Common Grill, see a play at the Purple Rose and sleep in a romantic setting. Doesn't get any better! It was my husband's birthday, didn't need to drive far. The Inn exceeded all my expectations. Breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back.

We thank you for taking time and going to the trouble to give us such a generous review. Knowing that we exceeded your expectations is the greatest reward. Your encouragement renews our energy with each new guest walking through our doors. Knowing we exceeded your expectations helps those deciding between: a chain hotel by the interstate vs. our local small bed & breakfast in downtown with no national reputation, select us. Your feedback helps them select us with confidence. Our local business stays alive because of this kind of kindness from one person to another. We apologize for not thanking you sooner. We hope your holidays were safe and full of joy. May 2014 be joyous for you both.

We stayed in the "Glazier Suit" and couldn't have been more pleased. The attention to detail is a superlative. Breakfast is a customized call. Chelsea is diverse and accepting. Walk the town and talk to the people. They exemplify the reasons that make small town Midwest the backbone of American exceptionalism. We're planning to return in January.

Michael,
Thank you so very much for taking time from your busy life to provide a review of Chelsea House and your impression of Chelsea. We are always grateful when guests stay with us, but taking time to give feedback is icing on the cake :-). It keeps us energized. Our town leaders are encouraged by insights from visitors' and their impressions of Chelsea too. Knowing what makes Chelsea a desirable destination helps ensure our local leaders stay on the right course. Amazing to think: our town left an impression while passing through on an Amtrak train bound for someplace else! Knowing the murals, Jiffy Mix silos and all the unique historic architecture adjacent to the railroad tracks were so positive in those quick few minutes passing through town, that experience resulted in Chelsea becoming a specific travel destination in your plans. That's great to know. Thanks again and many happy, safe travels to you.

Fond Regards,
Jim & Kim Myles

For the last several years we have stopped at the Common Grill in Chelsea, MI for lunch whenever we return home to Michigan (or on our return trip to PA). This year we decided to spend the the afternoon and evening in town, maybe catch a show at the Purple Rose in the evening, desert and a nightcap at the Common. Long story short - Craig and Jeff now share a 3 way tie for reasons to stop in Chelsea. When Jim met us at the door we connected immediately and by the time we left the next morning we had pretty much decided that the Chelsea House would be our stop-over from now on. They are amazing people in terms of the restoration they have done on this great old house, the hospitality they show their guests, the details you won't see at any other b&b (robes, toiletries, bedding, etc. etc.) and the fantastic breakfast (1st course was strawberry yogurt filled crepes - 2nd was an amazing crusted french toast with sausage and assorted fruit. Jim made sure your coffee cup was never less than half full). They are right around the corner from the CG and right across the parking lot from the PR. Sharing notes with another couple at breakfast in the morning we chuckled at the exclamation "Wow, they have thought of everything!" Our thoughts exactly.

We stayed in the Carriage House Suite because we needed space for our daughter and ourselves. The separate bedroom in the suite was perfect. The décor and accommodations are excellent overall. The mattress on our bed was very nice; the sofa bed mattress was typical for a sofa bed. Kim and Jim are wonderful hosts, and the breakfasts are delicious and filling. Our reason for staying in Chelsea was to attend parent's orientation at the University of Michigan and to move our daughter into her dorm. Chelsea is well-located for a visit to U of M, and we have already booked a return stay in a smaller room for Parent's weekend. We found we should have done so earlier (probably months ago), but fortunately there was still availability for Thursday night (since only the Friday activities were highly interesting to us; we are not Michigan alumni...).
We ate dinner at the Common Grill one evening, and it fully lived up to its excellent reviews and our expectations. We will be back there, too! Zou Zou's and the 52 Barbecue were also delicious.

Room Tip: We have only stayed in one room so far; the Carriage House suite has ample space and all we needed a...

We stayed two nights at this Inn. We had the attic room.Wow James had done so much work into the Inn and this room is huge. Very comfortable. James wears many hats, butler, chef etc. He is such a lovely man with a smile for us all the time. He goes out of his way to be helpful to us out of towners. We missed the play at the Purple Rose Theater, told by other guests it was funny, very entertaining. The inn is so close to the theater and a few steps from downtown. Inn was very clean, large yummy breakfasts. A must stay if you want to stay in the area.

Recently we had the opportunity to stay at the Chelsea House Victorian Inn. This was our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast and it was much more than we expected. Jim and Kim Myles are the perfect hosts. We felt at home as soon as we had a seat on the front porch. We stayed in the Carriage House, that has a separate entrance from the main house. A delicious homemade breakfast was delivered to us each morning, always including the Inn's signature crepes. We enjoyed our first evening relaxing in the gazebo in the back yard and gardens.

For a perfect get away, see a play at the Purple Rose Theater, have dinner at the Common Grill and spend the night at this very special Inn. We look forward to a return trip soon.

Room Tip: The Carriage House is a private apartment, including a full kitchen. The decor is more modern than...

I was fortunate enough to stay in this beautifully restored B&B on a trip to visit family and friends. It has been meticulously and lovingly renovated, so that you feel like you're back in Victorian times, but with the convenience of modern, well-designed bathrooms. My room was charming and very comfortable. Jim, the owner, is extremely hospitable and prepares a wonderful full breakfast. The inn is just off the main street so it is extremely convenient to restaurants and shopping. My daughter-in-law made this reservation for me because she thought it would be a special treat for me -- boy was she right!
