Owner description: Shepherd's Hollow has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Public Golf Club's in the United States by Golf Digest. Set on more than 350 rolling acres, at one of the highest elevations in Oakland County, Shepherd's Hollow is among the most unique golfing experiences in the state of Michigan. 27 Holes tucked into a towering forest of pine and oak offers the golfer a natural setting that provides a sense of tranquility. Shepherd's Hollow is a true destination course. The golf is only part of the story. Our secluded club house offers beautiful surroundings with complete dining facilities. Our relaxing open air veranda and pine covered terrace allow each diner to enjoy the splendor of nature with a wide variety of expertly prepared culinary delights. We think you'll agree that dinner here is more than a meal, it's a unique dining experience.

“Beautiful Course...terrible rangers”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2013

This is one of the better kept public courses in the area, and for $80 per person...it should be. If you're not an above average golfer, stay away from this course.

Prepare to be pushed throughout your round, even if you're an above average golfer, because they really pack you in. Our foursome felt rushed the entire round, and we're seasoned golfers.

The Rangers are extremely rude and unfriendly and complaining to their management does no good.

It's immediately apparent the management's focus is on making $$$$ with little emphasis on creating an enjoyable golfing experience. I would not recommend this course to a friend or for business outings

One of the better public courses in Oakland County ... greens are usually in good shape and a good chance to see some wildlife too

“The ground is still frozen, but it's sunny and 55”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2013

We may have been the 1st group of the season this am. We went out @ 10 am and it was in the 40's but with bright sunshine. By the 2nd hole on the 19-27 track, it was in the 50's and no complaints (+ we layered). Course can't be in tip-top shape as we haven't really had Spring yet, but this is a great course that will challenge you. It's top rated in Michigan and in the nation, so you can't go wrong playing here. Although with all Michigan has to offer golf coursewise, there are plenty of winners you can find. Now the pressing questions are: 1. Can Michigan beat Syracuse? 2. How do I find time to be sure I play all the top courses in Michigan? At least I've done Sheperd's Hollow.

Beautiful grounds. A little steep in price. I felt a little rushed during our game by one of the staff members who seemed to be behind us every hole. Love the options since it is a 36 hole course

“Idyllic setting and good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2013

Although I don't golf, this is one of my favorite places to go. The surroundings are fantastic. As you drive to he lodge, it gets quieter and more pastoral. The restaurant is pretty and the food is consistently good. Good sandwiches, great calamari and a good breakfast menu!
