Contrary to some of the other reviews of this hotel I am afraid we didn't give it the chance. My husband had walked ahead of myself and out two children. We struggled to find the way in and had to walk round to the far side to a rather unobvious entrance. Along corridors and past an empty reception not a soul was seen. Eventually found the bar with my husband enjoying a pint. He had the sunday lunch menus ready but they weren't very inspiring and at nearly £20 a head I was ready to head to the exit especially as upon our arrival the barman pointed out that walking shoes were not allowed in the restaurant. Interior is dated and unappealing with air of an old peoples home. We went outside to have our drink and although had a look at the Riverside menu after we had looked in that bar to see only one other family and a lone gentleman in their on a Sunday when everywhere else is booked up we decided to quit and left. The Riverside bar smelt of stale beer as well. We had looked forward to this visit but left feeling very disappointed that it had not inspired us to stay to eat what may well have turned out to be a great meal
