We were in town for a conference and the concierge from The Detroit Club selected this restaurant for is. It was excellent. Our favorites were the steaks, the brussels and the Taylor Made cocktail. The servers are professionals and friendly. We ate there twice in four days.

During my business trip to Detroit I met my brother for a great night with family at Roast. There are so many great dining establishments in this part of Detroit but relying on Trip Advisor we selected this great place to eat. Valet parking was very affordable and the staff both at the restaurant and the hotel lobby were very efficient and accommodating.

The menu from appetizers to entrees to desert were varied and prepared in an excellent but sometimes varied way. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the meal and the ambiance was very nice. Bar drinks were prepared very well.

I certainly hope to visit this restaurant in the future when on business in Detroit. It is certainly a gem in the vast array of establishments that offer varied types of food in a city that has certainly made great strides in redevelopment. I recommend a visit for anyone who wishes to enjoy a historic manufacturing city which has taken efforts to preserve the cit’s history while moving into the future.

We took my dad here for Father’s Day and his 50th Birthday Celebration over the weekend. Our experience was amazing. Ken was our waiter and he did a phenomenal job! We was courteous, knowledgeable and engaging. All of our food was superb! We ordered the bone marrow for an appetizer- DELICIOUS! I ordered the filet mignon with crab bearnaise, my boyfriend ordered the skate wing and my dad ordered the New York strip. We tried the brussel sprouts and the feta spinach au gratin- it was all cooked perfectly and tasted great. All of our drinks were tasted as well. We will absolutely be coming back!!

We had visited several Michael Symon restaurants in Cleveland. This was our first visit to Detroit and hence our first visit to roast. Quite frankly we were underwhelmed, we did not think it was up to the other restaurants standards that we had visited. We had a huge surprise when we googled the roast menu. When we got to the restaurant the prices have doubled. So carefully check your menu source if that interest you. We felt a little rushed by our waitress and we arrived for a 7 o’clock reservation. In our opinion, the food was just OK. And at the end of the night we certainly did not feel that we got our value for the price that we paid. Many reviews are different in this one but this was our experience last night. The restaurant is located in the Westin Hotel. It was never once mentioned in any of the reviews that we had read before. Just was a bit of a surprise because normally we don’t eat in hotels. Also if you had to use the restroom, you had to walk all the way into the hotel lobby to use it. Not a big deal but still not what we are used to.

When going to a restaurant of a famous chief you have expectations that are raised. I am happy to say that Roast was able to meet or exceed all of ours. The food and service were both excellent, Our waitress was there when we wanted her without always stopping by. Overall, a wonderful evening out.
