“Best kept secret in Downtown Detroit”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

This was our second time staying here. On this occasion, we had a standard sized room-1710. As usual it was extremely clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the hotel was absolutely packed due to a Jehovah's witness convention and a Jimmy Buffet concert so they ran out of pillows :(

We did take advantage of the in room dining, coffee shop and grill this time and they were very good. We'll be back again if I have to go back to the D.

Room Tip: Corner rooms can accommodate roll away beds if necessary

My family and I were here for a very large convention. (and i think there were two other major events going on in town that weekend.) The hotel was packed, but all the staff we encountered were friendly and ready to help... even if it wasn't their job. We only had a few requests during our 4-day stay and they were all quickly fulfilled. As always, the Westin beds were SUPER comfortable! The room size was great. The location was about a 12 minute walk to Ford Field. There are two restaurants in (or next to) the hotel. Both are a little on the pricey side, but the food/atmosphere was good and there is a cheaper bar menu option. There was also a very delicious cuban restaurant about a 5 minute walk away. No complaints. I recommend this hotel.
We did have a few friends that had some issues like the hotel automatically checking them out a day early and a problem with valet. But the staff quickly tried to resolve their problems.

Was really pleased to stay in this historic and beautiful hotel. Will list my cons and pros as follows:

CONS
The plumbing in our room was very weak, particularly when it came to toilet flush pressure. It's an older building but this was a serious problem. :/

I parked in the self parking garage where literally ALL of the valet drivers think they are on a race course. I'm a young guy and not a big complainer, hell I like to drive fast! But these guys were dangerous and I felt like I might get clipped each time I walked to my car. Please address this management! If not for your patrons, for your legal department!

The Roast Restaurant was overpriced and a HUGE disappointment. The Spa 1924 Grill on the other hand had great food at very reasonable hotel prices.

PROS:
Great location in downtown Detroit.
Fascinating history. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westin_Book_Cadillac_Hotel)
Clean and newly renovated.
Relatively friendly and helpful staff.
A great addition to Detroit's downtown, previously abandoned and shuttered and a great place to help support the city's recovery!

Thank you for your review and we are delighted you enjoyed much of your stay. Thank you also for you input on the valet service. The valet is not managed by The Westin Book Cadillac, but is provided to us by the city owned parking garage adjacent to the hotel. I have forwarded your comments to the management.

Be well,

We stayed for a Tiger's game. Hotel was PACKED, staff super nice, held our luggage and our car while we were at the game before check-in. There was a bit of a backup waiting for our room to be ready, but not too bad and we hung out in the bar. Very fun. Room was beautiful and spacious. Bed super comfy. Would definitely stay here again and recommend. Now my favorite hotel in Detroit.

Room Tip: not a great view from our room, ask if you want to be away from the eleveator, there was tad of ele...

The Westin has gorgeous rooms. They are large and have the best showers! The hotel is beautiful and the staff are very welcoming. Highly recommend!!! It is in the perfect location for access to anything you want to do. Plus it has The Roast as a restaurant downstairs! Perfect combination!

What a gem in the heart of Detroit! We stayed with our three children and felt extremely safe. We asked for a quiet room and were given room 2302, a corner on the 23rd floor. We felt like the only people on the floor it was so peaceful and quiet. We asked for a cot and were promptly delivered a comfy full single bed, as opposed to the fold outs we are used to. The beds were so comfortable...best sleep I've had in a hotel. Our room was huge, and felt spacious even with 5 of us in a room, not an easy feat! All in all, a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the highest floor possible.

Hotel is in a great "walk about" location in the heart of downtown Detroit. The staff was super friendly, hallways and room clean--room decor however was a bit drab and dark. The windows didn't open and were really dirty on the outside. Hotel should update it's linen stock--sheets were tired, yellowed and felt dirty and old. If stayed here again (not 100% sure I would) I would bring my own linens.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room. Some have views of Detroit River and downtown.

hank you for providing your review. Although we are pleased that you felt our team treated you well, we are disappointed you did not enjoy our decor. I also wanted to let you know that all liens are being refreshed and am sure that if you are able to return you will notice the difference. Thank you again.
