We had the pleasure of staying here for four days last week (2 days for a family reunion, and the other 2 to relax!) and LOVE this place! "Resort" doesn't really describe it, it is more like staying at a friend's cabin. The atmosphere is so relaxed and the rooms are quaint. We stayed in a large room with a kitchen upstairs and it was very comfortable for two adults and two kids (7 and 4). The kids loved the trundle bed and switched off each night so they both got the chance to sleep on it. It is a little dated, but has a flat screen tv and great mattresses. There is even a decent sized table and chairs for late night game playing. The decor just adds to the cozy atmosphere! Where we spent the majority of the time was in the back area, relaxing on the picnic tables or on the deck, making s'mores by the fire (highlight of the trip: watching the manager Rick light the fire! It's a must see!), playing horse shoes, digging in the volleyball sand area, or running around on the huge grassy area (complete with grassy knoll). Glen Lake is a short walk and the kids loved borrowing the bikes to get down there (bring your own helmets). There is a small sandy area that belongs to the house in front of the beach, but guests are allowed to use it (please keep it clean!) and the resort has small boats and canoes to borrow (not rent!) to take out onto the lake. The water is very shallow and the kids were able to walk out very far without having to swim. This was a relaxing family trip, but could easily be a romantic trip for two! The resort is short drive to Lake Michigan and great restaurants and shopping. My son summed it up with "Best vacation EVER!"

Room Tip: The downstairs rooms face the parking lot (although very nice with lots of trees and flowers) and th...

WOW! We recently stayed 4 nights at Maple Lane Resort. Our daughters and their families joined us, and they, too, were grateful for the clean and comfortable rooms with kitchenettes. Every member of our family (ages 3 to 58) found fun and relaxing activities to do. There were bikes, canoes, volleyball and horseshoe games for all to enjoy. The toddlers particularly liked the new play area, equipped with "little swings." In the evening, we gathered around the fire pit for roasted marshmallows and smore making. The managers, Rick and Connie, were very accommodating through out our stay.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the gathering area were good for keeping watch on family activities.

Our group of eight (four couples) have stayed at Maple Lane Resort (MLR) for the past four years over the Fourth of July Holiday. Our stays in the past always seemed to have been accentuated by some amenity calamity such as leaky air conditioning units, power outages in individual rooms, power outage throughout the entire resort, rooms not being ready on time, and just the general overall condition of the resort. The potential to be a great place always seemed to be suffering by the lack of attention to details. This year we had a totally different experience.

Due in part to the owner’s willingness to invest in some improvements but more pointedly due to the new management team, our stay at the MLR this year was fantastic. The new beds and televisions were a huge improvement. The outside area was cleaned up and improved. The rooms were very clean and the hot water was bountiful. Rick and his wife were wonderful hosts and it was easily noticeable that they were truly concerned that your stay was enjoyable in every aspect. Their accessibility and willingness to mingle with the guests was a definite plus.

We have already reserved our dates for next year and are looking forward to taking advantage of some the golf packages that are promised to be in place. While no lodging venue is perfect, MLR seems to be sincere in its attempts to help you make wonderful lasting memories.

We recently held a family reunion at the Maple Lane Resort, and what a perfect venue it turned out to be! The Managers, Rick & Connie, went way beyond their job descriptions making sure everyone (78 of us) had a fabulous time. The rooms were perfect (we had the whole place), with several size rooms & suites to choose from. The rooms had a cottage feel, but all have flat screen TV's, great mattresses, are very clean, and have all the modern amenities. Rick & Connie helped plan the big meals (catered), and there was breakfast in the Common Room. The kids all had the best time--swimming at the beach, boating, playing in the play castle, climbing the dunes, with lots of room to run free and make friends with seldom-seen cousins. It's the perfect place for a group gathering--plenty of places to sit and talk under the trees. Think it's hard to entertain your teenage/college age family members? I think they had the most fun of all. There were kayaks, boats, bikes, volleyball, horseshoe, late night card games, nearby resort towns, and the great bonfires every night. I think it was pretty much unanimous that future family reunions will only be held at Maple Lane Resort. We can't wait.

Ann & Andy Sharp

Room Tip: Make your reservations early--we were amazed at how busy this place is in the summer.

We had a great family reunion at Maple Lane where everyone found plenty to do on the grounds or nearby, from volleyball, biking, kayaking, swimming in the clear waters of Little Glen Lake, visiting, and having s'mores around the bonfire. Rick and his staff could not have done more to help with our BBQ and catered meals. Rick was everywhere helping us and checking that everyone was having a good time. Everyone is looking forward to returning for the next family reunion.
